Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help.
At what point does a Nanny become a Child minder? I understand that 1 Nanny can have 2 maybe 3 families (not at the same time) and still be classified as a Nanny. What are the exact rules on how often the children could go to the Nanny's home. Incidentally we are only taking about an hour in the morning and 3 hours after school, up to a maximum of 4 days a week.
Many thanks.

No that's a childminder and yes they would need to be registered.

See Number 3 in this legislation, it gives the 2 hour rule, the definition of what a day is (2am-6pm), and what is considered a nannyshare.

4 hours per day at the nannies home is not being a nanny, it would be childminding.

Also, nanny insurance may not cover you for that long a period of time at your home, or indeed any time at your home. Contact your insurer to confirm conditions of insurance.
