Long second stage for 2nd or subsequent baby?

Before ds2's birth I kept reading on here about people's experiences of labour after they'd reached 10cm, subsequent dc coming out in a few pushes/minutes (regardless of how long the 1st stage was). Is this usually true? In my case for ds2 the second stage was a lot longer and harder work than I was expecting, in fact 3 times as long as the first stage. Don't mean to blame MN for my unrealistic expectations .

Ds1's 1st stage was 3 hours, 2nd stage 1 hour.
Ds2's 1st stage was 40 mins, 2nd stage nearly 2 hours.

DC1s 1st stage, approx. 12 hours. 2nd stage approx 2 hours.

DC2s 1st stage, approx. 8 hours. 2nd stage approx. 5 minutes (didn't know what had hit me - assumed they had pulled him out with ventouse but apparently it was just me pushing).

Ta. Just spotted the other thread about easier second labours - confirms my thoughts! I wonder why my body took so long to do it second time. Midwives were perplexed as they were expecting me to have had it by the time they got there (having heard me groaning over the phone) but got a few cuppas in before ds2 finally made an appearance.

Perhaps you weren't quite as dilated as they thought and were pushing against the last little bit of the lip of the cervix?

Isn't it weird how our bodies are so unpredictable?

Induced with DS1 - from waters being broken to birth, 8 hours

DS2 - 3 hours second stage - and waters spontaneously broke a week and a half early then contractions kicked.

Oh - just realised second stage means pushing stage - 1 hour with DS1, 20 minutes with DS2

Second stage for DS - nearly 3 hours.
Second stage for DD1 -18 mins.
Second stage for DD2 - 4 mins tops.

Birth weights, 9.7, 8.13 and 7lb, in that order, might explain it though.

Didn't really have a 2nd stage with my first, he literally popped out mid-contraction.

2nd baby - couple of pushes.

Pesky 3rd child had me pushing for about an hour, I thought I was going to die.
