Oh how EXCITING!!!!

I'd say yes to the eating - your body will need the energy later on!

As for the contractions.....I have no idea. They could start anytime. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Exciting stuff!
Yes to eating.
Re the contractions- with dd1 mine started before waters broke, when they did I went to hosp.
With dd2 waters broke with no pains and ctx started on the way to hosp.
Good luck x

Exciting!

Yes, you can shower. And do eat, otherwise you'll have no energy.

Report
FlamingoDuBeke · 24/09/2009 08:12

Oh, and rest now if you can, before the contractions start.

Report
BunnyLebowski · 24/09/2009 08:13

Course you can. Get in there!

I know you must be feeling impatient and a wee bit fraudulent but you're not!!! You are right on the verge of full blown labour......go girl!!!

And yes your DP is probably anxious. Mine watched Hulk on the PC while I bounced on my birth ball beside him contracting away!

Eat, shower, rest and enjoy the last few hours of peace :-D I personally wouldn't go to hospital to be checked unless you're worried for some reason. Go in once you're well on your way.

Report
RorysRacingMa · 24/09/2009 08:58

what suzy says. you're well on the way. For me contractions started about 1/2hr to 1 hr after waters broke but sometimes they don't which is why the mw should know what your situation is

Report
pushmepullyou · 24/09/2009 08:59

Congratulations! Have something to eat if you are hungry, and get as much rest as you can!

Contractions can take up to a day or so to start once your waters go - mine started as period pains and gradually got stronger so it sounds like you're on your way.

As pp have said, enjoy your last few hours on your own and look forward to meeting your brand new baby

Hey devils any news? I'll be thinking of you today.

Report
smallone · 24/09/2009 10:03

Ah cross posts, hard to say, why is it you're under the consultant I can't remember?

Otherwise I'm guessing they'll want to check you over and monitor the baby for a bit. Do you want to be induced?

Report
devilsadvocaat · 24/09/2009 10:05

pre-eclam last time. not severe though.
i was induced last time and although it went very well (worked 1st time, no epi and 8 hr labour) i'd rather go into labour naturally.

what is the cut off point after your waters go?

smallone · 24/09/2009 10:09

I think they usually say come in after 24hrs but the cut-off is 72 I think. They might be able to do a sweep for you, just to finish off your show and that might get things going on its own. Do you have a birth ball to bounce on? Otherwise get squatting, the added pressure might spark things off.

My waters started leaking in the morning and contractions started later in the afternoon. I went in about tea time to be checked and the midwife did a sweep and sent me home about 6pm. Ds was born at 9.50pm so it happened really fast once the contractions started. In fact we only just made it to the hospital in time

Keep as active as you can - go for a walk (or even just walk about in the house) and things might get moving.

But do go in for a midwife check when you can.

Good luck

lol. the carpet fitter has just said i look tired

ds at dsis house, dh playing the piano which is good as it will help him relax (also nice music for me!).

i did have a birth ball with ds. god only knows where that went. think i may wait until the fitter has left before i start squatting...

yes and don't squat over the new carpet!

Report
lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 24/09/2009 10:23

keep moving if you feel the need, or sleep if you can. Shower but not a bath. Stay at home as long as you can, Im sure its 24 hours after waters go that you have to go in if not in labour.
soo exciting.

she said if i haven't had ctx by tomorrow morning they want to induce me.

just had something to eat, thinking of getting ds in an hour and going for a walk.

she said it's ok to have a bath but will that slow things down?

hi devils, I'm in labour too - hope your contractions start soon (well, kind of - they're not much fun at the moment)
mine started this morning (at 6.20 exacltly) and are quite irregular at the moment, but waters haven't broken so far as we can tell.

am going to go for a walk up and down the street i think
