Almost 41 weeks and seeing my hopes for a lovely natural birth vanish...

Sweep on Saturday (hopefully Sooty and Soo as well but they can't commit). Another sweep on Tuesday. If nothing happens then, induction plans. By those dates I will want those things, so it isn't a case of refusing iyswim, I just want to go into spontaneous labour and have a natural birth. Don't we all - sorry, know I'm wingeing about nothing but please bear with me.
DS was born the equivalent of 5.30pm today so I think I'm finding it hard - by now I was in pain and calling DH at work to order him back

Me too stealth, just got back from the MW, sweep booked for Friday

DD was a few hours old at this point

I have a very large trifle in the fridge. I might not bother with a bowl, I may just attack it with a spoon grin

ElectricElephant Wed 16-Sep-09 11:26:49

I didn't have DD until 41+5, you've got time left. Get your DH home and get him to help speed things along

TF
Let's wallow together (couldn't remember the word earlier - 'womble' was the closest thing).
I have eaten a whole bar (230g?) of cadbury's dairy milk since this time yesterday and considering opening a second.
I wouldn't mind if something was just happening but I'm exactly the same as I was 3 weeks ago

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 11:27:30

tried that EE - nothing happened so far

TigerFeet Wed 16-Sep-09 11:33:33

<snort> @ womble

although weeble might be more appropriate

let's weeble together grin

DH has been pressed into action, also doing clary sage baths, eating of pineapple & curry <ponders possibility of pineapple curry>, birthing ball bouncing, nipple twiddling.

I was all jolly and upbeat at the MW, cracking jokes about stubborn children and so forth, but really I just want to cry.

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 11:44:57

urgh at pineapple curry.
Yes, I agree. I have nothing to winge about really, but just feel so miserable

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 11:54:45

Oi, where have you gone?? You'd better not be off having a baby!
(Only joking, hope at least one of us is!)

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 11:55:02

I'll just have to find someone else to weeble with

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 11:55:14

breathe

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 11:55:26

and push...

TigerFeet Wed 16-Sep-09 11:57:31

<pushes>

nope. nothing.

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 12:00:25

oh, stil here then?
I too have wondered what would happen if I just pushed, as well as helping with my hands
Well off to drink more RLT and clean up some poo, what a glamorous life

TigerFeet Wed 16-Sep-09 12:01:19

I sort of semi discussed expectant management with the MW but to be quite honest my sanity won't stand it.

She wouldn't even attempt a sweep today

<sulk>

TigerFeet Wed 16-Sep-09 12:02:36

Oh it's all glamour isn't it? grin

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 12:03:03

what's expectant management?

gingertoo Wed 16-Sep-09 12:03:09

Ds2 and ds3 both born at 42 weeks - both natural births...
....so you've got a bit of time yet - good luck

TigerFeet Wed 16-Sep-09 12:05:00

Expectant management is what they do if you refuse induction, they monitor you and the baby very closely, scans and so forth to make sure the placenta is still functioning and that the baby isn't getting ridiculously large.

All in the hope that you will go into labour spontaneously at some point before Christmas

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 12:05:58

oh I see. In principle I want that, but if there's a midwife with warm hands offering me a sweep...
gingertoo [ shock] 42 weeks - that's another week and a half away!

gingertoo Wed 16-Sep-09 12:11:14

I know - I was losing the will to live by 42wks!
Seriously though, I really didn't want to be induced (they do it at EDD + 10 here) so they kept an eye on me and both times I went into labour spontaneously at 42 weeks...

TigerFeet Wed 16-Sep-09 12:15:30

Hmm. They induce at T+12 here, that gives me an extra couple of days. Two days feels like a very, very long time atm.

MW did remind me I can refuse the sweep, but there is no way on god's green earth that I'm going to do that. I am nervous of induction though. But too frustrated to leave things any longer than T+12.

Arrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhh <cries>

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 12:19:19

So T+12 will be the Thursday, is that right?
Don't suppose they would induce on a Saturday, sp the latest we can go is to T+13, otherwise T+16.
hmmmmm

gingertoo Wed 16-Sep-09 12:20:48

I had sweeps with DS3 and while it didn't seem to get things going strainght away, it did mean the MW had a good idea what was happening down there! She could tell that things were shaping up to get going so she was willing to let me wait a bit longer before I was induced.

StealthPolarBear Wed 16-Sep-09 12:21:55

can you self sweep? Surely it must be possible??
