4/5ths engaged- a good sign or just optimism!

I'm 38+1 today with DC2. I've just seen the MW who says baby is 4/5ths engaged. I'm assuming 4/5ths is deeper in than 1/5th.
So, is this a good sign or just me being optimistic?
I know 2nd babies don't often engage until delivery..and they pop in and out of engagement but I'm just clinging on to any good positive signs!

The midwife told me I was 4/5ths and 7 hours later I was holding dd.......

Over here, they count it the other way; and 4/5 means 4th of baby's head still palpable, so not very much engaged yet. 1/5 fully engaged.

sadly I was 4/5 engaged from 36 weeks on dd but I still went a week over sorry.

I thought 0/5 means fully engaged; 5/5 means not engaged?
I am 36+3 and was told baby is 3/5th engaged today, but not sure which end of him hope he hangs on a few more days anyway!

Agree with arolf. Yep, it does vary the way they put it, best to check with your midwife!

Grrr, now kicking myself for not asking. The MW just said 'hopefully you wont be here in 2 weeks time' (for my 40wk check up).

There is a lot of pressure right now in my nethers, I'm walking a bit funny and have constant back ache...that could be because this baby is slightly back to back...oh more joy!

Thanks all though for your replies.
