C-section gas pains

Has anyone found a way of dealing with the horrible gas pains after a c-section? I have a CS next week and it is the bit I am dreading.
I have two suggestions to try so far - peppermint tea and a semi-liquid diet before and after the operation - if you have tried either of these, did it work?

lazylion. Have you had these before with a CS ?

I had a CS with my first, but no gas pains. I can vouch for peppermint tea, though (helped with IBS I had a few years ago)

Yes abdab, lucky you to get away with it. I had them the second night after my last CS and it was agony. I was pacing the hospital room all night.
How much peppermint tea did you need to drink to help your IBS?

You poor thing .... I know it can happen with abdominal surgery - my mum had them after her hysterectomy.

To answer your question. I just basically replaced my normal cuppas with peppermint. I still drink it after meals.

Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will come on. I'm sure there must be other supplements you could take

Good luck with the birth - and the baby

I had horrendous pain after my section. DH came back from town with peppermint oil capsules which he bought in Boots. They worked like magic, would thoroughly recommend!

Good luck

I didn't get the pains but here in Spain they give you a mush to eat, looked like prunes and raisins.

Good luck

Boots wouldn't sell me peppermint capsules when I tried to buy them before my C-Section. But the midwifes on the ward post delivery had a peppermint concoction for me to drink when I complained of wind pain which seemed to work ok.

I got a sort of peppermint syrup from the mws, which seemed to do the trick. Even helped after I had my appendix out when heavily pg with DD2 - trapped wind and a mahoosive baby in the way - damn, that hurt

lazylion - I didn't have any gas pains after elCS, and neither did anyone I know who had CSs at our hospital. This might be why: The night before the operation, you are fed only what looks like yellow water, yoghurt, and fruit compote. After the operation, you get only the yellow water until you manage the pass gass (which thankfully was only several hours later for me). Until you pass stool, you get the yellow water, yoghurt, and fruit compote.

Thanks everyone, great advice. I'll try all of it.
Any idea what the yellow water was CoteDAzur?
