After about an hour of painless contractions every 3 mins, waters just went. Had forgotten quite how bloody much of it there is. I sit back and await labour...

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 05:30:06

Many many towels... (3 bath and 5 hand to be precise)

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 05:31:44

Ok, so you know that bit in Marley and Me where the dog knows that she's about to go into labour? Ha! My bloody yellow lab is lying snoozing about three feet away and appears to have no idea...

aRLcat Sun 23-Aug-09 05:33:37

grin @ your dog!

Congratulations! How are you feeling? smile

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 05:34:45

Fine! Nothing much happening yet apart from more leaking. Plus there's only BBC News 24 on the telly and I don't think I'm going to be able to get back to sleep.

aRLcat Sun 23-Aug-09 05:40:18

Can be a bit of a twilight zone before it truly kicks in, can't it? Which number birth is this for you? Can't possibly be first?! You sound far too patient for it to be number one wink

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 05:41:33

Fourth! After a very long gap though.

aRLcat Sun 23-Aug-09 05:48:01

I have four too! Only 11 months between my 3rd and 4th but I'm sure it's just like riding a bike.... except much more profound and rewarding!

Best of luck, wishing you a lovely labour smile

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 05:49:28

Think I'm going to go back to bed anyway. No sense staying up when I could be getting some last ZZZs for a while in...

Arl- 11 months! Sounds like hard work! Are they in the same school year?

aRLcat Sun 23-Aug-09 06:00:03

Sleep sounds a good idea if you can manage it.

Hard work? Funnily enough, although at times life is so hectic my head spins, I couldn't say it's hard work, it's just busy, rewarding and interesting albeit somewhat relentless wink

They wont be in the same school year which is a shame.

Sweet dreams!

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 06:14:45

Couldn't sleep...

oopsacoconut Sun 23-Aug-09 06:31:43

Congratulations. Do you have a ball you could bounce on? maybe that will get things going? Maybe a bit of an early morning walk?

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 06:31:58

Proper cx starting I think...

Buda Sun 23-Aug-09 06:32:04

Sounds very exciting! My sis discovered she was PG with no. 4 after an almost 6 year gap. Scan showed twins!

LOL at dog too.

Keep us posted.

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 06:32:55

Dog is actually snoring now...

oopsacoconut Sun 23-Aug-09 06:33:54

LOL at your dog. Our cat got very upset when I was in labour he went nuts and kept trying to climb in my shirt hmm

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 06:39:17

I sincerely hope the dog doesn't try that, oops- he weighs about 38kg...

oopsacoconut Sun 23-Aug-09 06:57:38

You do realise Tech is going to cut this thread off with his scheduled maintainance!! Hope things are moving along.

Confuzzeled Sun 23-Aug-09 07:15:43

I hope this baby comes soon for you, you could be back on here this evening telling us how easy it was

3cutedarlings Sun 23-Aug-09 07:25:54

aww congratulations duchesse, wishing you a lovely easy labour grin. Are you having a HB?

duchesse Sun 23-Aug-09 09:15:44

Thanks for all good wishes. Nothing much happening yet except more leaking.

Yup, am booked for HB. By the sheerest good fortune my named midwife is the duty midwife today. She's on all day 8-8. Hoping to squeeze this one out some time today!

OracleInaCoracle Sun 23-Aug-09 09:21:12

AlistairSim Sun 23-Aug-09 09:28:26
