Childbirth

Lots of sensations/period pains but no show or waters or discharge

I'm not expecting anything to happen yet as only 37+3 but because I'm preparing for a VBAC my acupuncturist has been working on "gentle invitation for her to come along in her own good time but before 40+3". She did some vigorous ReBozo for optimal positioning/engagement, lots of needles, lots of herbs and teas and natural homeopathy gentle induction remedies plus GLA oil capsules up the fango at night and again during the night. I've been feeling lots of period type cramps but nothing in an escalating pattern and even more sharp feelings like baby is grinding on my bladder or cervix or something. Feeling of bruised pubic bone and some rectal pressure or sometimes discomfort/pain there. Now show, waters nor even much discharge.
Am wondering if others have this weeks before the birth or only days?

any thoughts?

braxton hicks ?

or perhaps the very very beginnings of labour (the early rumbles) ?

No, less BH than the last weeks, these low down periody pains seem to have replaced them. Only get the BH if I overexert myself which I've stopped doing.

You're probably right, early early early pre labour.....?

I have had the period pains for two weeks now mw said they are your body preparing for labor.

However I had none on my son no bh and no show or discharge and he was two weeks early.

The rectal pressure my mw said is baby engaging which can be a good sign hope your period pains are the start of labor though.

Even if they do go on for two weeks like mine I am now 3 cms so I guess I am a third there already.

I can relate to this! I feel like a yo-yo at the moment - having been to hospital yesterday - again - to be monitored yet again as was having v strong BH or contractions - I hadn't been sure which am 37+ 3 at the mo, and first went in to be monitored at 34 weeks... so it has been going on that long - off and on. Am definitely sure that the sensations I am getting now are contractions and build up to labour, but obviously v slowly building up to the main event rather than getting on with it. I didn't have any of this with DS1 (waters broke, nothing happened, so was induced) so all of this is new to me... I have had exactly the same feelings of "burrowing" by baby which makes me want to go to the loo even more than I do already... but I know it's all in a good cause I just wish it would get on with it now

Good luck!! (my acupuncturist won't do anything until I am at term - so lucky you!!)

Have you had the baby yet?

With my second labour I had the show minutes before the second stage and my waters broke on the final contraction.

You have my sympathies about the braxon hicks. Its horrible not knowing.

No nothing yet. Infact, things seem to have normalised so I think I'm a way off. Godo luck missy H, I'll keep my eyes open for your news.

HI Missy H, good to hear your update, do keep us posted! I'm having more BH contrax and according to midwives she's dropped a bit but still not really engaged. Not rushing her, just want to enjoy peace and space now before the chaos and endless sleep deprivations starts again! Good luck and let us know!

DS2 arrived 26/7 (due date 25/7) 9 lb 6.5 oz, waters broke during S&S, then baby too big after v quick first stage so forceps, shoulder dystocia and retained placenta (for the second time). Just about getting over it now - but have beautiful little (!?) boy so worth the wait...

hope all well for you justlookatthatbooty?
