been meaning to ask this for ages.

above my CS scar the skin/flesh is still totally numb for about 3 inches above it, almost to tummy button.

it is 15 months since op! is this normal?

It's totally normal. When they cut through to the uterus, they cut through nerves. Sometimes they come back, sometimes they don't.

I didn't get feeling back after DS1 until three years later, while heavily pregnant with DS2. And now it's gone again.

oh good. my scar is very yukky. bummpy on one end and all wiggly. my friends is beautiful - sleek and flat and pale pink - she reckons its because hers was a private elective section done by specialist and mine was done by whoever was on duty.

I've had three c-sections and have an area of numbness around the scar line for years. I think the nerve damage is most likely permanent.

flum,

it was the thing i found the most distressing - my sister and best friend had both had cs and never mentioned the numbness as they didn't htink it was important. i just thought the anesthetic took a while to wear off for the first 2 days! a lot of the feeling has come back now, but i do still have a numb patch. it is getting bigger as i get more pregnant!!
mine was an emergency cs, so i think the surgeon just grabbed a bread knife it is bumpy and dark red and icky. i put bio-oil on it every night which keeps it nice and flexible. it does itch a lot when my belly has a growth spurt.
when i first had it my dh wouldn't even touch it, but he got over that pretty quick.... fortunately given where it is otherwise this baby might never have been conceived !!

I got the feeling back completely very quickly - within 3 months certainly.

However, I had an elective CS. Don't know if that makes a difference?
