Childbirth

I really should know this second time arround, but, when do tightenings count as contractions and not BH?

I feel silly for asking but I'm doing it anyway Anyone care to define the difference for me? I slept right through the early stages last time...

I'm 38+5 and I've been having slightly painful tightenings every 5, 10 or 15 minutes (ish) all afternoon. No show yet (but then I didn't see one with DD either). TBH I'd be happy just to sit it out and see if it develops or not. But, when the time comes I need to let PIL know as early as possible and preferably give them a 'possibly maybe' warning.

PIL need to come and get DD - they live about 1 1/2 hours away so will take 2 - 2 1/2 hours to get here.

Trying not to get excited!

Hi there, I am sort of in the same boat! 2nd child and I thought I would "know" lol!!!....I have been having small contractions all day and they are slightly more painful now than they were this morning but still 30 mins apart and not really progressing. This baby has given me so many false starts I refuse to beleive its real!! I am 40+4 btw.

If I were you I would wait and see if they become more regular, tighter, more painful over the next hour or two and then make your decision to call the PIL's.

Goodluck and I hope this is it for you this heat is awful when you are pregnant!!!

Thanks nelix! Good luck to you too

It seems like things might really be happening here - the tigtenings are now every 3 - 4 minutes and feel a bit 'heavy' or like period pain. More convincingly I'm feeling quite hyper and have just had to clean and tidy up... I think I'm going to try and have a nap now though

Hopefully we'll both be posting birth announcements in the not too distant future!

I think if they are every 3-4 minutes I would be calling the PILs now...

FIL has just arrived! MIL wasn't haapy to wait any longer. Quite wise really as they are just starting to get very slighly sore. The Doula is on her way too (also a long-ish journey).

If anyone's got any spare 'home waterbirth for norktasticninja' vibes going spare they would be gratefully received!

Blimey I'm excited
