question: gradual dilation?

Hi all. Well, made it to 36+1 now... My cervix has apparently been a bit shortened since 32wks but nothing else is happening, only the odd BH. I've read that dilation can happen gradually, over a period of weeks sometimes (without you noticing anything), as well. Is that true? And if it is, does it leave you more vulnerable to infection, or is that only if your waters go? I ask because I'm still working (lecturing) and the loos at our uni, which I have to visit pretty frequently, aren't really that pleasant... so I'm a bit worried about picking up something nasty. Thanks for any advice!

yes you do not notice changes in the cervix.... and as long as your waters are intact you are fine.

Im sure you can dialate over a period of time but dont think this can cause infection as the baby will still be in the amniotic sac so you should be ok on that score. Id still be worried about catching something from the uni loos tho. Pregnant or not!! Ive seen the state of ours!

Thanks pupuce and louise.
Louise - yes, why is it that people who have obv got through school and made it to uni still spray/drip all over the loo seats and fail to flush?
