Childbirth

40 weeks - bloody discharge - Consultant today said I am 2cm and cervix very thin! I hope this is my LABOUR THREAD!

Been getting pains all evening, just been to loo and wiped and there was bloody discharge (aware could be because of internal) - Consultant was convinced I would be going soon when he did internal today - I am praying that tonight is the night as I am fed up!

Did anyone else have bloody discharge (not a show) pre-labour?

yes, i did after my sweep. Had baby 51 hours later - sex will help!

Are you having a hospital birth?

This could be my birth story.....I went to see my consultant at 41 weeks, was examined and told I was 2cm. That was at 2pm. Had a dischage at 5pm, the aches started at 7pm and dd was born 5am the next morning - good luck, sounds like it's your night....

I think consultant did a sweep, he didn't tell me but has written "sweep" in my notes. Lulumama (who I have text) says I must have a stretchy cervix if I didn't notice he did a sweep!

me23, I am not sure if he did one, he has just wrote SWEEP in my notes. Would a Consultant do one par of the course?

I had a bloody discharge (bloody show less than 24 hours before ds was born). Was it brown or bright red? Mine started brown and trned bright red he was born about 7 hours after the bright red discharge.

Good luck!!!

It was red MKG. Not brown at all. I think it may have been because of the examination. Nothing else much happening here. Not to say it won't but I don't feel any worse iykwim?

I hadn't had any pain when mine turned bright red, so maybe everything's starting to happen for you. I got the blood, an hour later or so painless contractions like braxton hicks that lasted for about 3 hours and then BOOM everything at once.

I have to tell you as I'm sitting here 35 weeks I'm extremely right now.

Sending you labor vibes.

My legs feel very numb and I haven't waddled whatsoever during the last few weeks of this pg (not a big bump) but this afternoon, I feel like something is happening down below and I can't close my legs properly.

You would think with this being number 3 I would be well rehearsed but it is comforting to hear of other people's similar experiences although it won't make mine happen any quicker.

Good luck MKG, it will be you soon enough.

Sending you labour vibes! I have had my second sweep today at 40 + 10. The midwife was very surprised to see me as she was convinced the first would work. After the first I had quite a show (plus real dragging feeling), and have had a bloody discharge since then. My first show was nearly 4 weeks ago! The midwife today said the baby's just sitting there and she can stretch my cervix to 4 cm. Apparently my waters are bulging! Please let tonight be the night as I am seriously fed up now, especially as my son arrived 6 days early. I have an induction booked for Thursday - just hoping I can avoid that.

Keep us posted with your news!

Any news prgwithnumber3? I'm getting some real pains 'down below' but my tummy or back don't hurt. Could this be it?

Ever woman and every labour is different. I had no back pain at all, even when dd was op (apart from the spinal needle) and pains were always low down.

Good luck to you both. How exciting.

Becca - nothing! Had a bit more bloody discharge and feel very achy underneath so assume things are starting to happen but it will probably be days! Fingers crossed you go soon, you deserve to before me! I hope you don't have to be induced. How are you feeling now?

Pink Tulips, I was early with DD1 and late with DD2 so was expecting to go bang on time with this one. It is so frustrating waiting. Especially as I don't feel like going out far with the weather being so cold and DD2 has a nap for a couple of hours during the day and by the time she has been fed etc, it is time for the school run. The days are just turning into Groundhog Day. I need some action!

MKG - 5 weeks is not far! It will soon be you.

we're 5 miles from our closest town and it's getting to the point where i'm actualy terrified of having to pop to the shops

not to mention the hospital is an hours drive away so i'd bloody better have this baby before my next hosp appointment next week or i'm going to refuse to go on my own which means dragging dp and 2 toddlers with me
