I had a cs and extensive episiotomy and if I ever had the courage to have another (probably won't bring myself to) then I'd have a hb.

Yes.

I think a homebirth gives you the best chance of avoiding it happening again.
If it does happen again then you will most likely need to go into hospital to get if fixed, but then you are no worse off than if you go there in the first place.

WobblyPig, I expect that should I ever get pg again I'll meet a lot of opposition but it's not up to them. Luckily our local midwives have attended successful hbacs and support them.

I had a 3rd degree tear with DD1 - and also a comparatively fast labour. My MW suggested I consider a HB with DD2, because of the likelihood of another fast delivery. She didn't appear concerned about the tear issue.

In fact I went for a hospital birth. Partly because I'm quite happy with the local hospital and also because I have been known to scream rather a lot while in labour and didn't want to scare my kids or the ones next door .

Mind you, I did tear again - although less seriously this time. I did end up back in theatre to be stitched. I don't know whether that would have involved a hospital transfer if I'd been at home - wouldn't have liked that.

i had a hospital birth with my 1st child and hated every moment of it. i had a terrible 3rd degree tear which hurt like hell!

i went for a planned home birth with my second child, the midwife and consultant didnt see a problem with it and said if i was too tear they'd bring my straight to hospital to get me stitched up.

If fact i loved every moment of my second delivery, if i was to have a 3rd i know 100% id have another home birth. It was sooooo relaxing, it was june and i sat outside all day enjoying the sun, then when the evening came and i got my urge to walk (as i do with labour) i walked for hours around my own back garden. when it was time to start pushing i went to my own room and lay on my own bed and delivered my son. after the birth the midwife ran me a nice hot bath which i enjoyed while they cleaned up my room. after the bath i went to sleep in my own clean bedroom with my husband beside me and my beautiful newborn baby in his crib beside my bed - perfect! to make matters better i also didnt need any stitches, i had a very small tear but the midwife said it wasnt big enough to worry about! x

That's really good to hear. I had 3rd degree tear (hospital) with DS but am planning home birth for this one due in May.
