Should I go for a sweep tomorrow?

Am 40+2 would love to get things moving and mw has offered to do a sweep mon. Thing is I've had a horrible coldy virus thing all week and felt pretty rubbish this weekend, am wondering if my body is holding off labour on purpose till I'm 100%? Any ideas?

I would wait a bit longer TBH. Don't forget not only has your body got to go through labour you will also have to cope with a newborn straight afterwards and rest may be limited. Wait til you're 100%. Your labour will also be nicer (!) if it starts naturally anyway. 40+2 isn't that overdue- I know everyone says it and you just want to meet your baby, but try to enjoy the last days of rest- the year ahead is hard work!

Thats what I'm thinking, its bad enough trying to look after dd1 at the moment! Thing is I'm 40+2 by my dates but 41+1 by mw dates and I want to avoid induction at all costs,am worried they're going to start pressuring me and I wont get my hb?

I'd wait too. I was due for a sweep but luckily it all started on it's own 2 days before. Ds was 6 days over.
Like pp says, 1/2 days isn't that over and you don't want to have to deal with a new born when you're not well if you can help it. Don't let them pressure you into anything. A friend of mine was told she'd be induced at 12 days and she refused, her dd was born 4 days later.

Ah yes, I see what you mean. If you already have 1 DC you're probably not getting that much rest anyway! It's a dilemma. When I had my sweep though I just felt really rough for a few days then nothing happened. Maybe book it for the end of the week instead?

How are your dates a week different from the m/w?

They will start to get concerned by their dates if you don't labour naturally by 42 weeks. You can still refuse induction of course but just to be prepared for some pressure.

Is there no way one one you can change your dates? One week difference normally doesn't matter during pg until you get to the point of possible induction.

I would book a sweep for Wednesday and then Friday if nothing happens. She'll be able to see whether your cervix is looking favourable on Wednesday too.

I was in the same situation last week. Can't imagine anything worse than labouring while ferverish and achey. Thankfully my body agreed. I would avoid the sweep until you know you want to be in labour.

My dates are a wk out as we were ttc so I know when I ovulated but mw just put down the standard LMP date. She knows my dates are different and is pretty good but I can still see her starting to get a bit funny.
