Childbirth

Is it too early to start trying 'home induction methods?' ....

Such as clarysage baths, clarysage massages, nipple stim ect ...

I am 37 weeks today and its all getting a bit too much. I know EVERYONE feels crap at the end of pregnancies but this is my 3rd and worst. I have SPD so cannot walk far, my pelvis aches constantly, I cannot sleep because I can't lie on either side as theres too much pressure on my SPD riddled hips! I can't lie on my back as I cannot breathe, plus I have the most horrendous heartburn! As soon as I swallow ANYTHING my throat burns.

I am weak. I have started with morning sickness again

I am useless basically!

Its so bad that I have planned a homebirth like I had with my 2nd baby, which was the most lovely thing ever ... but if someone said come in today and have a c-section ... I would!!

The thought of me being like this for another 2,3,4 even 5 weeks makes me want to cry!!

Midwives won't do anything I know

You can give them a go but if your little one isn't ready to come they'll probably make things worse as they may give you wicked bh's, and nothing else.

Has your baby started to move down yet?

Sorry, I also wanted to give you a pat on the back as the last few weeks are a complete bind.

The midwife said she could only feel 2/5 of her head so 3/5 is in the pelvis.

I think shes a big baby too which is worrying! lol

Well things are moving in the right direction. At what gestation were your other dc born?

Are you getting any help/support with your SPD?

I had a home waterbirth in Sept and my ds was 9lb 11oz and I only had a graze. So you'll be fine

DS1 was induction at 42+1!

DS2 was born on his due date.

Im praying this one will form a trend and be 2 weeks earlier than the previos one!

9lb 11! wow (And ouch!)

DS1 was 9lbs and I thought that was bad!!

So if the trend continues your lo will be here in the next week?! Here's hoping!

I think the water softened everything because I honestly didn't think it was that bad.

Have you considered a waterbirth with your SPD? I've heard it really helps as the water supports you.

Hi there, poor poor you

I think the only thing you shuld be doing is drinking rasberry leaf tea or taking the tablets to tone the cervix and uterus. Or one other thing is maybe have a foot reflexology session.

Been overdue by 9 days with a big baby and SPD before myself, no fun at all, the sleeping is a NIGHTMARE. And this won't cheer you up but my consultant said that women usually repeat their patterns i.e. you are likely to be pregnant for the same amount of thereabouts each time...sorry! This is why my elective c/s I have to have this time is only a few days before the due date.

In the end last PG I was sleeping on top of two spare duvets folded in half, with the sheet over, like princess and the pea, but it really helped my hips. Have you put anything else underneath you yet? How you sleep will affect your whole day.

At the risk of sounding like the mumsnet apothacary, I'd also recommend a couple of supplements (available from internet if too sore to shuffle to the shops, have lifted the next bit that I posted on another thread for SPD tips:

-I've been taking a natural anti-inflammatory called Ginger, Curcumin and Boswellia safe for use in pregnancy, as paracetamol alone won't do anything about the inflammation.
Also taking Omega 3 fish oil It's from the body of the fish, not liver, so safe in PG. This is ace because not only does it help with stress and mood (vital with SPD which can be so depressing) but Omega 3 can reduce inflammation by inhibiting production of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids (whatever they are). Also great for boosting baby's brain too.

  • I also found out that you can call your local social services to ask about borrowing a monkey-pole to help you turn in bed - I felt that loads of damage was done when I turned in bed, I'm sure you know the ripping and crunching sounds/feelings...

  • I have been seeing an osteopath who actually massages and manipulates me every three weeks, it's pricey but worth every penny. Takes a day or two but I always feel better for it.

Good luck, hope this baby breaks the pattern!

How funny... i've just posted on your other post about Feeling sick, and one of the things i said is now your 37 weeks can't hurt to start trying all the listed above!!!

Good luck, hope your not too unconfortable for too much longer.

OH & reflexology is suposed to be great!

If it makes you feel better to try a boatload of stuff, then go for it. Sometimes just actively attempting something can make you feel a little better, or cope better.
In all likelihood it won't start you off, but will increase the severity of BH.

I'm seeing an Osteopath tomorrow for severe spd, could you considered this maybe? Perhaps if you get relief from that the final couple of weeks might not seem so long.

I'm sure you know she'll decide herself when she'll make an appearance.... doesn't stop the illness and frustration you feel though.

I know how you feel I was exactly like this at the end of my last preg. I was induced early in the end (39wks) as I couldnt stand the pain any longer and I was exhausted . That said I am seeing an osteo this time round and it has really helped so far.
