acupuncture for induction?

Has anyone tried acupuncture to get things moving along? I'm 40+4 now and thinking about trying acupuncture this weekend if nothing seems to be happening. (Have a brilliant acupuncturist already who cured my back-pelvic girdle pain.) Has anyone had any success for induction? How long did it take?

My friend had acupuncture at 41weeks, then had a sweep a few days later and found she was 3cms diclated. Did not progress into anything, so had acupuncture again at 41+6 and the following day she had a DD (2 hours start to finish, beatch )

Could be coincidence, but I will be giving it a go if I go overdure again.

Just a thought - for those nervous about needles, you could try Shiatsu for encouraging a postdate baby. Shiatsu is based on the same oriental theory as Acupuncture but rather than using needles, a Shiatsu practitioner uses hands. Shiatsu involves a combination of stretching, breathing, visualisation and gentle or deep pressure, depending on the individual's circumstance. Acupuncture points to help induce a baby are stimulated using the thumbs.

I'm a Shiatsu Practitioner, myself, based in Blackheath, London,and have had success in helping mothers with postdate babies and also in teaching birth partners aspects of Shiatsu massage that they can then do for the birthing mother.
