Hi i am due on the 11th of this month with my 3rd baby. With my first 2 i didn't have a show but have just been to the loo and found what i presume is a plug from my cervix. It was clear mucus with no blood about a tablespoon (sorry if T.M.I.)!
What i'm wanting to know is does this mean labour is about to begin and roughly when.Is it like when your waters have gone and you should expect to start labour within 24 hours or not?
Am really starting to worry now not sure what to do .Any advice would be great thanks.

Hello I'm no expert on these things, but I had a clear mucus loss on the Friday, bloody show on the Saturday and gave birth to a beautiful boy on the Sunday evening. He was 6 weeks early: not sure if my experience was the norm but thought I'd at least reply till someone who knows more comes along

I'd give your hospital a ring too, see what they say, when I phoned and told them about my show they said I had to go in

I lost mine about 5pm and went into labour at about 4am. Had DD 2.15 the next morning. Mine was a bloody show, don't recall noticing any clear show before it. Good luck

My plug popped, immediately followed by waters. But I was told that show can come several days before onset of labour...ie that it isa sign that cervix shape is changing and getting ready.

I've had clear mucous a couple of times - first about 2 weeks ago (now 38+5) and I don't think that it was a show, and if it was it didn't herald labour, sorry! You can have several shows weeks in advance of labour.

If your waters go you are likely to go into labour within 48 hours. If you haven't after 24 hours call the hospital but it's not a disaster - NICE guidelines give you 96 hours before inducing.

hey!

On my due date i woke up at 2 pm ( hah lazy mare i know) but i sat up in bed and felt my show. i then felt pains in my back a few hours later... so i had a bath and when i came out i called the hospital and described the show and my pain and they said i should have phoned them when it happened ( ooops)
I didn't get to hospital untill 7, but i still didnt feel contractions in my belly like everyone said i would, i just had a sore back every few mins. They said i wasn't in labour and i was just to keep an eye on things and go home. When i stood up to go homw my waters burst everywhere and i had my ds at 10.58pm.
sooooo phone someone! Because your baba could be on its way. How exciting!!!!

i believe that it doesn't necessarily mean you're about to go into labour.

although i had one last saturday, and dd2 was born early sunday morning.

good luck

The best description I heard for a show was like you've blown your nose from there.

The plug isn't always a sign of anything, I'm 18 weeks and already lost it two or three times.

For lots of people close to their due date its a sign - but unfortunately not a definite.

I have lost mine gradually over the last week ish - midwife examined me the other day and said there wasnt anything left in there. But still no baby unfortunately. Am 39 + 5.

Last time I lost it on the wednesday and had ds on the sunday.

Friends however lost it and were holding their babies a few hours later.

Fingers crossed for you - any update? How were the pains?

When I said it isn't always a sign of anything, I meant that it can happen days before labour. I meant not always a sign as in it can take any amount of time.
