Is a show always a dramatic thing? Or am I having a gradual one?

Last time with DS there was no mistaking it, the lot went a few hours before he was born.

Am now 38+2 and am wondering if am getting tiny bits of a show gradually - but it's all clear, not like the last time?

Any ideas?

i've been having a show daily for the last 8days. i'm now 39+4, some days it's clear, other days it's snotty like and at other times it's bloody....can definately come away gradually. it;s an outer sign that your cervix is starting to prepare, not necessarily anything immininet

It sounds like an early show, similar to like I had, in bits and blobs for two weeks or so.

ANother possibility is a thrush infection, ususally associated with itching and burning.

But it does sound more like a show, it means that your cervix is getting ready but it may be a little while before things really happen.

So not sure that the baby is planning to escape asap, but you never know!

Didn't notice a show but waters gushed out with an almighty force!

Oooh, interesting, thanks! Apparently the head is starting to engage as well, which I thought didn't happen until things were imminent with 2+ babies (this is number 2) but the midwife didn't seem overly optimistic that anything was about to happen. I don't think it's thrush (for once!) as I was treated for it a week ago and Idon't feel like I've got it, so fingers crossed things are going to get moving!)

Bealcain - yours sounds much more promising than mine!

no not really bohemian...this is number3 head has been engaged 2/5 palpaple for last few weeks. induction on friday

fingeres crossed for you. they say bouncing on a birthing ball may help as it opens pelvis and baby's head starts to appply pressure to cervix which with subsequents is said to be what starts you off.

you should join our ante natal thread!!

Oooh, good look for Friday! I might start bouncing on the ball and see if I can't shake the baby out.

I did join the antenatal thread a week or so ago, so bit of a late starter - will pop over there and catch up. (It moves so fast!)

Hi Bohemianbint, we chatted a few weeks ago about dh's not giving us enough attention 2nd time round! (mine has been much better since I went down with a d and v bug 2 weeks ago!).

Anyhow, don't really know answer to your question, but just wanted to say that I've had show this morning too, getting nervous and excited now!

All the best with your birth, hopefully not too long now for either of us.

Hello Apprentice - glad to hear your DH has sorted himself out a bit! Are you feeling better now? Last thing you need when you're pregnant is a d+v session! My DH has improved too now, they just need the odd kick up the arse now and again eh?!

Exciting re the show - what date are you due?

Am due on Sunday BB. Yes, am much better thanks, though it was awful! Dh took the day after i was up vomiting etc off work, and then, after looking after ds for the day, uttered the immortal words "I havent been doing enough to help, I didnt realise how much work it was looking after ds all day" !!!

When are you due?

The 17th, allegedly. ALthough I cannot imagine being pregnant for that much longer, I'll need a wheelchair! Really really good luck, let me know when you pop - are you on the antenatal thread too?

No, not on antenatal thread, but have been on Scotland birth thread and over 40 birth thread! Have not kept up with them as well as I should have, though.

I thought it would be nice to give birth on Friday - 08/08/08 what do you think?!!

Let me know when you pop too, I'll look out for you on antenatal thread.
