Childbirth

Yippee, consultant happy for me to have home birth!

I had the most awful time giving birth to DS and still have a few nerve damage problems from what happened. I wanted to avoid the hospital if at all possible this time but when I mention HB at my booking appointment there was an audible sucking of teeth and loud drawing of breath by the MW (not mine thankfully). An appointment was made at the general obstetrics clinic for me to discuss this and to go through my last birth again.

Anyway, I waited 55 minutes for my 7 minute appointment (apparently the consultant was reading my notes for about 45 minutes, which doesn't surprise me as they could be used in a weightlifting competition), and he said he had no problems with me having a HB as long as the pregnancy is normal.

Now I know I don't need his permission but I am so pleased I won't have a fight

Dammit I always anticipate a fight and they will never give me one! In my last pg I declined induction at 42 weeks and had an appointment with a consultant, who said it was fine by him as long as I was aware of the risks. They must be particularly enlightened down my way!

Anyway, just wanted to share my general joy and happiness at having this choice

thats fab news!

I think some consultants are on happy pills at the moment! I went in all fired up to ask about mine and she suggested it to me before I opened my mouth! From the same woman who told me it would be really dangerous last time - for a reason that hasnt gone away (and its not dangerous).

Spread the happiness consultants!

Thanks very much - if I could clone consultants I certainly would. And if I had the right to mow down a few of the numpties who botched everything up cared for me last time, I would do that too!

Glad you have got a good one too waitingtobloom. If a bit mad by the sound of it.
