How long overdue is it 'normal' to be induced

I know different areas have different policies re induction. When did your mw/hospital suggest that you should be induced? I am 40+9 today and am seeing mw tomorrow. I want to be forearmed with info as to when it is reasonable to expect an appointment to be made for me.

Thanks

According to NICE guidelines you can be offered induction after 41 weeks - but you can choose not to be induced but to be monitored. I opted for this and was monitored twice, although actually ended up with augmented labour (also on drip) because my labour fizzled out...
See NICE guidelines for more info:

I gave birth yesterday @ 42 weeks,i agreed to being monitored until 43 weeks. I had a great labour and I know it was because i gave him time to be 100% ready! good luck

My hospital wanted to induce me at 40+3 - I said no, they ended up inducing me at 40+13 (didnt want to be but no consultant available to agree to me being monitored until I was 43 weeks).

thanks everyone. have been told 42 weeks here, which seems reasonable I guess.
