Ok baby number 2 now 33 weeks scan at 32 weeks gave gest age of 36 + 4! he has gained at least a week at every sacn! scan at 8/9 weeks made him 10/11 so we used those dates initially. Then at 20 week scan measured 21+ 5 ! sent for another morhography at 33 weeks and the above result. DD was 8 lb 4oz, but suffered a placental abruption at 28 weeks so the doctors are reconong maybe she too should have been bigger or that mu body has gone into overdrive to compensate for previous abruption? I was indued on due date with DD and dont want to be again really but seems to be the plan from the docs! also dont want a 12lb baby so feel stuck between a rock and a hard place! any suggestions.... off for scan again tomorow wich will give a revised date for delivery.
Oh also any advice on dealing with the pain of an induction. last time i had cramps in my legs that were so bad i couldnt move and ended up having an epidural, atm planning a phrophylactic epidural... so i dont have to think about the pain!

I measured big with each of mine and am destined for the same with this. you don't have to be induced just because of big baby - my dd1 was harder to deliver than dd2 and she weighed less!

see how you get on at scan tomorrow and don't make any decisions until you decide you're happy with what they're suggesting to you

DD weighed in at 6lb 12oz at 32 week scan. Midwives were convinced that I'd have a 10lb baby. She popped out at 39+4 weighing 8lb 5oz

Dont panic - I measured waaay ahead with DS1 and he was born at 39 + 4 weighing in at 8lb 1oz - Measured average with DS2 and he was the same weight born at 39 weeks! See how things go at the scan and take it from there. Wishing you all the best.

Hmmm.....

Re: epidural - as someone who's had 2 babies over 9lbs and one that weighed nearly eleven pounds at birth, I'd be very careful about opting for something that will make second stage slower and more difficult.

You need all the pelvic space and muscle strength you've got to push out a biggun. If you've had an epidural chances are you'll end up sat on your bum to give birth, which'll reduce your pelvic capacity by up to 30% compared to kneeling or standing. Sorry to be negative but for me this was a definite issue when I had my third.

All that said - I really wouldn't get too worked up about the scans - more often than not they're hugely inaccurate when it comes to predicting big babies.
