2nd c section - old scar tissue not removed - horrible puff of skin above new scar...

ds2 delivered by emergency c section 3 weeks ago... my previous scar from ds1 was completely flat and not remotely lumpy or disfiguring. the registrar who did the 2nd c section (very grudgingly as it was end of her shift and she said that after 32 hours in active labour i hadn't given it long enough!) did not remove the old scar which i understood to be the normal practice, but instead sliced kind of diagonally across it, so that i now have a sort of 'x marks the spot' thing going on with old and new scar. new scar has big roll of skin above it (and my stomach is virtually flat, lucky me, so its very noticeable) which is puffy, lumpy, wonky and generally looks hideous... no way i could wear a bikini again, the skin even hangs over the top of my large maternity knickers... anyone had same experience? am i stuck with it or might it improve? is it, as i suspect, likely to be as a result of the surgeon having stitched the old scar tissue in rather than getting rid of it?

OMG, she made a new incision leaving you with two scars?!?!?! WTF?!?!

I would be VERY unhappy.

I don't really understand what you mean by puffy, lumpy, wonky. But, it sounds terrible. Have you been back to the GP about it?

What hospital were you at?

whipps cross in east london. and yes i've got 2 scars which cross each other at a midpoint... my understanding is that normally they remove the old scar tissue so i don't really understand why that wasn't done, though as i alluded to, the registrar was not happy about doing the section so perhaps she didn't exactly take care. guess will see what gp thinks at 6 week check, but its totally diff to my previous scar...

its hard to explain what it looks like, but basically there's my stomach which looks fine to about 2 inches below belly button (though granted skin a bit loose at present!), then below that is what looks like an uneven roll of fat which flops over the scar, more so at one end than the other. but i'm fairly convinced i don't have a 'fat' bikini line, if you see what i mean!

I'm really surpsied too tbh, I had a classic incision with DD so my first scar is about half a cm width going down from my belly button to my pubic bone but with my second they said they cut over the old scar internally as it's better to have one scar than two.

I don't know if you stand much chance but personally if she has f*d it up I'd be after cosmetic surgery on the NHS to fix it. DD has had it on an old scar that was attached to the flesh of her breast tissue (from a pneumothorax, when the sewed ehr up it was done wrong) and they were perfectly happy to refer her to get it sorted.

Was the 2nd op a crash section? If so, maybe this goes some way to explain it. But I still find the situation you are now in a bit odd and rather unnecessary.

I would speak to your GP about it.
