What are the chances of going into labour naturally if...

I was 9 days over for ds, went into labour after a sweep and then had to have a syntoc- whatever it is- drip cos my contractions stopped after I got to 10cm

and I was induced at 12 days over for dd?

I really don't want to be induced AND I reall really really don't want to go over my dd.

What are my chances? Has anyone else been early after 2 or more inductions?

did you try nipple stimulation? Sex? Acupunture? Acupressure? etc...

No 2 pregnancies are alike. With DS1 and DD1 I was 4 days past my EDD. So I naturally assumed that it would be the same for the next one. Oh no... DD2 came 4 days before my EDD.

How long's a piece of string?

Try the natural induction techniques (like those mentioned above), but I hope you find that you just go into labour on your own.

Btw... how long's your menstrual cycle normally?

my waters broke 13 days early with DS1 - had a CS the following day (long story but I reckon now it wasn't needed) - no sign of labour commencing on it's own

Waters broke 1 week early with DS2 - was induced 3 days later

Went into labour on my own about 2 weeks early - with DS3

Am intrigued...how long was your absence of contractions at 10cm?

sometimes at fully dilated contractions will slow down or stop for some time. Mostly tis natures way and nothing to worry about but mw's are sometimes in a bit of a rush to keep things mving smoothly

My contractions almost stopped after 2 1/2 hours of pushing. I truly believe it was nature knowing that I needed a break. The threat of a drip kickstarted them again though.

Nooo, MWs know all about contractions going off at fully (ever heard of midwives referring to a woman being 9.5cm dilated: it's a fib to buy women time). It's called 'rest and be thankful'.

Marslady- tried everything- sex, curry, raspberry leaf tea, long walks, fresh pineapple etc. I was desperate!!!

My contractions just completely slowed down and dropped in intensity. Can't remember how long they waited till putting drip in but even when it was increased to above the normal max dose my contraction still didn't pick up that much- I was pushing for 4 hours!

I know that my contractions weren't intense cos when i was induced with dd they broke my waters at 3cm dilated and I immediately had very fast strong intense contractions and she was born about 30-40 minutes later- it just never felt like that with ds!

oh and my normal monthly cycle is quite long (hasn't been regular for years though due to coming off pill, getting pregnant immediately and having 3 babies in 3 years) - but usually 30-40 days.

Why, does that make a difference?

I had two inductions with my first two and then my third came ten days before due date and was perfectly natural and very quick. I only had just enough time to get to the hospital!
The thing is when it was natural it was such a gradual build up I didnt actually recognize I was in labour! What I remember from the inductions when the contractions started it was like hitting a brick wall, and really painful!

I was home decorating and going for long walks with my two toddlers every day. I'm sure that doing gentle exercise helped as I was a bit of a lazy mare with my first two pregnancies.

All 9 of my pregnanies went overdue. My first and my last were induced. Nothing I did made any difference whatsoever.

yes long cycles afaik do affect the length of pregnancy.

I hope you remember to rest, eat and pee whilst labouring.

I couldn't eat or pee in either of my previous labours. How do you do normal things like that when you're in that much pain???

Just remember that if you pee it makes the bladder smaller thereby leaving more space for the baby to descend. See... method in the madness.

DD was 4 weeks late (don't ask).

DS was on his due date
