Piles after childbirth - do I need to see a doctor?

I only just realised this is probably what's causing pain when I poo - four weeks after giving birth. It's not excessively painful but I have bled a couple of times when I was a bit constipated. Right now I'm just drinking lots of prune juice and hoping for the best. Do the creams actually get rid of them or will they eventually just go? Was looking at the packet of Prep H etc in Boots yesterday and it said you have to see a doctor for piles. I didn't buy the cream as I wasn't sure if it cured them or just eased the pain, and I'm not in a lot of pain right now.

I had exactly the same, they are v. normal. The cream will help to heal them, and the doctor can also give you something to make it easier to pass the poo, although I found that eating a lot of fruit was actually more effective, pears were the best! As for an alternative, the health food shops sell something called Hypercal cream or ointment which also really helped. And Neals Yards have a specific pile cream. They do just go away in time, although they are really horrible, and I remember thinking it was really unjust after going through childbirth!
