40+4 1cm dilated... what are my chances?

Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience or could help give me hope at all?

I'm 40+4 today, just had my membrane sweep done at 2:30pm (ouchBlush).

She said I'm 1cm dilated, cervix soft and posterior.

Booked in for an induction on in 3 days time when I'll be exactly 41 weeks.

Do I have any hope of going into labour naturally, being only 1cm at this stage?

TIA! Smile

DC2 was showing absolutely no signs of shifting at 40 weeks but eventually arrived by herself at 41+5. If you're 1cm already then you're doing better than I did!

Get on your birth ball and go for a nice long walk! Preferably a hilly walk!

I was induced but when I was finally 1cm then went up and down the hospital hill for a good hour. My cervix wasn't soft at all! That was about 9pm by 2am I was 2cm and when they checked again at about 8am I was 3cm by 9am I was 10cm dilated.
So you definitely have a good chance just get a lot of movement in Grin

Thanks everyone.

Just been on a 1.5 hour walk up and down lots of hills with the dogs.
Hopefully that will get things moving along as well, had some spotting since my sweep too, hopefully the plug will come loose since it felt super rough when she did it - she had blood on her gloves when she was done 😅

My cervix was still long and effaced with a Bishops Score of one 6 hours after a pessary at 42 weeks with my 4th DC, gave birth 4 hours later after they inserted the next pessary!

I wasn't even able to have a sweep on the morning when I went into labour that night! Could happen anytime. Fingers crossed for you

Update:
Had my little boy at 40+8, was induced and had EMCS (which I actually really enjoyed once in theatre) so I didn't end up going into labour naturally.

When I arrived at hospital they said I was 1-2cm dilated so never made much progress on the dilation front. X
