Why does it all seem to have gone so quiet?

I'm 40+2 today, which I know isn't really awful. I'm just worrying rather about it all and feeling really down. Over the past couple of weeks I've had lots of days where I've been getting lots of crampy pains. This week however, there has been pretty much nothing. I had what seems to have been a show following sex last monday and a bit more has come away on a couple of occasions. Everyone seems to comment on how high my bump is, and last week I was 2/5ths engaged. Getting lots of pain which feels around my cervix, almost like a limb is being shoved out of it, really painful.

I had DS early last time so don't really know how normal all this is. I was planning a home birth but am getting increasingly nervy about it as I was a big baby, and DS was 7lbs7 at 37.6. I know second labours are supposed to be easier but with getting on 3 weeks difference in growth I'm not so sure!

Not really sure what the purpose of this thread is, probably just a rant really. Basically I was convinced I've been going into labour since about 36.5 weeks when I had a bleed and now I'm just as convinced it isn't ever going to happen.

It's the calm before the storm flossalump.

I had the pains before my 3rd arrived, it's the head getting deeper and into a good position for delivery. My show came away in bit's over about a week it then turned pinky the day she arrived.

It is going to happen soon. Keep you chin up sweetie. x

Thank you. Off to collect DS from nursery who will hopefully crash out this afternoon and then I think I'm going to have a big cry to get it out of my system and get over myself. Most probably going to try a curry too tonight which is a food I hate!
