Have I got a prolapse?

I had my baby 2 weeks ago. My stitches are healing well I think and the pain from the stitches has pretty much gone. Over the last week I've noticed a heaviness feeling in my vagina and a feeling a bit like a tampon is falling out. I had a look and I can see a bulge a few cm inside my vagina. I'm scared I have a prolapse! I know it is very early days but I guess if I've had a prolapse it could already be diagnosed. Does this sound like prolapse to you? Has anyone had similar symptoms and recovered? It's very uncomfortable being stood up for longer than 5 mins at a time ☹️

Im really sorry I have no clue but if you are at all concerned please phone the surgery. They are mostly doing telephone consultations but are seeing people face to face if they feel they need an examination. Better to discuss it with a dr than to be worrying.

Hey it may be a prolapse by the sounds of your symptoms, I have the same a week after giving birth I felt something drop, turns out was my uterus and bladder both grade 1 I think. Your so early postpartum and apparently it takes the body up to a year to fully heal from childbirth and may be even longer if you breast feed. My prolapses are much better now mind 8 month later I don't have that heavy tampon feeling anymore thank god, I just did loads of kegels and got referred to a women's health physio :) it can get better x

@amber9612 thank you! So you had the tampon feeling to start but not after physio? That's the worst thing for me! How long did it take you to improve? Thanks Smile

Does it feel like you need to hold it all because it's like a weight?

If so I had this so bad but I also get it during a heavy period as far as I'm aware it's quite a normal thing. I'd give it a few more weeks you'll have your pp check up and ask them or ask next time you see the midwife for baby

I have the exact same feeling, had third baby nearly three weeks ago. Just like you describe like having a full tampon in and heaviness after standing up too long. No advice as I've always had quite rubbish Pelvic floor, just try to do kegals and see off there's any improvement if not maybe mention at your six week check? I know that heavy lifting and straining to go to the toilet can make it worse

Not necessarily. I thought I had one and it turned out to be vaginal varicosities. Vulvar varicosities are more common apparently. I felt like I had a bubble up there or something? Weird and heavy and uncomfortable. I had a yeast infection which I think made them worse - otherwise I don’t even notice they’re there.

Of course it could be a prolapse but try not to worry because there are a number of possibilities. None of my googling turned up varicosities - everything suggested prolapse and I was convinced that was what I had.
