Just had my first stretch and sweep at 37+6! I have another booked in for Thursday if there's no change.

How long after yours did things happen?

Mine didn’t work. The rate of success is unknown. I refused them ever again

Why so early? If you don't mind me asking

I was due on the Sunday 30th august 2015, I was booked in for a sweep originally on the Wednesday, but I started having contractions on the Tuesday so I decided to see if things would progress naturally. They didn't so I ended up having a sweep at 3pm on the Friday (40+5).
I got to the hospital at 9 that evening, was in the birth centre by 10.30, had my waters broken around 2am, then gave birth at 6.58am the Saturday morning (40+6).
It didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable at all and it did help move things along (the head wasn't fully engaged so things wouldn't have progressed on their own).

I had 4 with my last dc, none of them worked even though I was nearly 2 weeks overdue.

I had two and they didn't work. Had to be induced.

I would still do it again though because I wanted a chance to go into labour naturally, and the sweep wasn't that uncomfortable for me.

Mine worked immediately. Had it at 2pm and started timing contractions by 5pm. Was already 1-2cm dilated though! Good luck Star

I gave birth 48 hours after mine, I was 38+5 and 2cm dilated already. I started getting cramps and mild contractions straight away but it was 36 hours before I was in proper labour. This was my second baby.

With my first baby I had it at 39w, my plug came out later that day and baby was born five days later. I wasn't dilated at all that time.

@latheritup ahh ok, I was asking because in my experience S&S only tends to work well if the body is getting ready for labour and obviously the earlier it's done the less likely that this is the case.

They only work if you were going to labour anyway. Someone not ready to go into labour will not be made to labour from a sweep.

I had one the day before I went into labour and found it quite painful. I'd refuse next time. I was already 2-3cm when I had it done so I think I'd have gone naturally anyway.

Both worked for me x twice. Was advised to walk lots afterwards and have a foot massage. No need for the massage as I walked about 3 miles home from the appointment.

I had mine both around 38 week and both boys were ready to come!

Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone! Nothing major happened over night apart from noticeable back cramps. I'm staying hopeful Grin

Mine have been successful but only after the second one. Mine were done post-dates as well.
My daughter had one at 38w 5 days and then another at EDD plus 1 and her waters broke 36 hours later.

My baby's estimated weight is 7lb 15oz so I'm hoping she's pushing down trying to get out Blush
