Third births?

We’ve just found out we are having our third baby - so Labour is a way off yet.

I was wondering how you found the third labour? Was it quicker than the previous two? My first DD was a 30 hour job and horrendous, DD2 was 4-5 hours from start to finish.

I’d love the third one to be easier still (wouldn’t we all?!) and I’m not going to lie, I’m slightly bricking it 🤣

I'd heard a lot of horror stories, and was dreading the after pains after how bad they are with baby 2. But my third was shorter again than second. Placenta took longer than it should to come out but just about avoided transfer (home birth) but the consequence was I had zero after pains. I think all the contractions for on the third stage got them all out the way.

I’m loving these replies I have to admit 😂

Sorry to read about ending up with a prolapse though @WorriedAboutMom

Mine was very straightforward, labour was five hours, which was about half as long as DC2. He was a planned home birth a few days before his due date.

DD1 82 hours from 4cms dilated.
DD2 12 hours
DD3 20 mins I remember telling midwife I need to push, she asked me to hold off as she hadn't got her gloves on yet! Very intense but nice and quick!

Dc1 and 2 both about 12 hours over night. No.3 was a pickle. No complications but much longer, more painful and in the day which just threw me as I was expecting it to be the same as the 1st 2. Afterwards, my midwife did question if he was back to back which would explain it.
Currently 30 weeks with no.4 so it'll be interesting to see how this compares.
A friend has just had dc3 and it was incredibly quick and easy compared to the 1st 2.

My 4th was my 3rd vaginal birth, it was a heck of a lot quicker and hurt like hell after

My waters broke 2 weeks early (was late with first 2) and so was induced. Took a while to get going but once I did it was pretty quick and straight forward.

Sorry OP, another 20 minutes! From waking up at 1.30am to DS3 being born at 1.50am. ExH (H at the time) delivered him, no time to get to hospital or even for the ambulance to arrive.

DS1 was 8 hours, DS2 was 4 hours so I should have expected it really. Just be more prepared for a home birth than I was. A waterproof mattress mat might be an idea! Grin

First several days.
Second about 24 hours.
Third - 12 hours of half hearted contractions which got me to about 3cm. A sweep and a baby an hour later.

I’m not having a fourth.

(Prolapsed with my second, which gradually improved with pelvic floor exercises, and have had not after effects from third).

First was 12 hours w epidural (epidural slows it down), second was 6 hours w epidural. Third was just under 3 hours and no time for epidural. It was not that bad w out the epidural because it happened fast (thank goodness!!).

3rd was by far my easiest.

1st induced at 42wks, 13hrs, back to back, drip, epidural, 3rd degree tear and episiotomy. Delivered by henhouse.

2nd spontaneous 6hrs

3rd induced at 42wks out in 2hrs.

4th induced at 40wks, process took ages but active labour only 4hrs.
