Sex still hurts 1 year on

My LO is 1 next week and it's made me realise that actually maybe it's quite a long time for sex still to be hurting! I am going to make an appt to see my GP but just thought I'd ask whether anyone else has experienced this (and got better!)

I had a very slow 2nd stage (3hrs of pushing) with epiesiotomy eventually which didn't heal very well. I saw a Physio for some months who treated the scar with ultrasound and that really helped - made sex possible about 6 months after birth and now the scar is hardly sore at all. But I still get pain afterwards - not really bad but an achey pain deep inside, bad enough to take painkillers.

I guess I haven't really thought about it till now cos we're not having sex that often (LO still not sleeping through so v tired and sex messed up anyway by years of infertility) so I hardly even noticed there was a pattern of pain. But now I think about it, there is one. I don't think it's putting me off sex (which sounds weird, I seem to sort of forget each time). But it's not much fun!

Definitely see your doctor ... I had a different pain to you. My scar overhealed so I had granulated and excess scar tissue. I had a Fenton's op where they lasered a lot of it away and actually re-stitched it about 10 months after DD1 was born. Made a world of difference. Didn't need any stitches after DD2 (born 11 months ago) and no pain at all now.

Sex shouldn't hurt so you're right to talk to your doctor. My experience is they do take it very seriously ... all my drs were very keen to get me up and running again

I still have a bit of pain after 3 years, but much much better than it was. If you're having to take pain killers then definitely see a doc
