What snacks did you bring?

Being induced in less than 2 weeks and just thinking about what food to take for me and DP.

I'm really not a fan of hospital food, even the smell of it makes me feel sick so I honestly doubt I'll be eating much of it.

I want to bring sandwiches/pasta salads etc but I'm guessing they're not going to keep for a couple of days? Wondering if there's anything else I could take.

What food did you take when you went in? Thanks

Hello
I was induced a week ago and took cereal bars, flapjacks, lucozade tablets and lucozade drinks, few mini cans of Coke Zero, mini cartoons of juice - 3 pack, bag of popcorn..I am not fan of hot food in hospital like you but every meal time there was a option to have a sandwich which I had everytime and breakfast was fine just some toast with jam..Good luck with your induction x

Jelly. Baby bel cheese.
It's really easy to get dehydrated so take lots of drinks.

There’s normally a sandwich option at meals. We have an m
And s in our hospital so DH could nip down and get me a nicer one though! And hummus etc.

In terms of stuff that would keep - I went for things like oatcakes, cheese oatcake snackers, flapjacks, peanut butter whole grain cereal bars, apples - things that would be a bit slower release. Also took in some sweets though for energy and chewing gum in case i wasn’t able to get up to brush teeth.

I remember being soooo hungry after birth so was so glad I’d packed heavily! Best of luck.

Thanks everyone. Very helpful!

I will probably be opting for the sandwich option every time 😂

Sorry if this is TMI....

But my top tip is to take something that will help with your first post-baby poo! My DH bought me a bag of clementines (they were on special offer at the sainsbury's next to the hospital) and I ate my way through them during/after labour. I believe they made a potentially traumatic event much, much easier!

I took things that would keep - cereal bars, dried fruit, mints, fruit bars - and Lucozade (I'd read somewhere it was a good idea to take this with you). As it happened, I ended up having an EMCS and I promptly forgot I had packed any snacks the entire time I was in the hospital!

The hospital food I had was really good - the toast and cup of tea they gave me just after I had my baby was the best thing I'd ever tasted. Also the macaroni cheese for lunch the next day!

Not chocolate. It melts in the heat (although I froze a mars bar in advance and grabbed it out the freezer to eat in the car en route).
Cereal bars are good, crisps / salty snacks, cartons of juice.

@Sculpin hit the nail on the head!
I didn't go to the toilet for 2 weeks after having my son(natural birth).
As you can imagine, it felt like I was giving birth all over again except with stitches and a 'baby' double the size-
I couldn't walk for an hour after😖😬
Get anything with oats, prunes, fruit- roughage is the aim of the game.👍
Good luck! 💐

I took loads of chocolate, cereal bars and crisps.
As it was, nearing them starting my drip I wasn’t allowed to eat any of it and was kept nil by mouth for 38 hours (complicated labour). Was nice to have when I could finally eat though.

I had a baby on Sunday and took 3 x cartons of Vimto, some haribo, some mini eggs, some nuts and some hot cross buns :). All of which went down a treat after he was born. The hospital gave me a jacket potato and cheese and beans for lunch which was yum.
