Do all babies eye colour change? Or are some babies born with green eyes? Just curious. Thanks

I don't know if all babies are born with blue or brown eyes, but not all babies eyes change colour. Both of mine have had the exact same eye colour since they were born. There is some green in there, but brown is the main colour.

DS was born with really dark brown eyes - like chestnuts. All the midwives kept coming in to see him because it was unusual.
He still has dark eyes

My son was born with blue eyes and is now 3 and they haven't changed. My daughter is 9 weeks old and was born with blue eyes I'm assuming they'll probably stay the same as she has fair hair (more fair than) like my son but who knows.

My niece and nephew were born with brown and have kept brown.

I can't say I've ever seen a baby with anything other than these colours? X

All mine were born with grey eyes. Some were a dark grey which changed to brown. Others had a lighter grey colour which later became blue. It was the same with the grandchildren.

Is this just a white people thing? Never heard of blue eyed babies in my community (BME).

@edgeofheaven Most Caucasian babies are born blue eyed.

My niece was born with green grey eyes that have settled into proper green now at 7 months but most I see are born blue, grey or brown.

Both my Caucasian babies were born with dark brown eyes and have kept them. A lot of people commented, but I didn't know it was unusual.

most caucasian babies are born with blue eyes, and then some darken to brown. It is rare for a caucasian baby to be born with brown eyes.

Having said that, 2 of mine had light blue eyes which have stayed pretty much the same colour, the third had dark, dark blue eyes, which pretty quickly (few weeks) went properly brown.

I have heard of babies eyes changing right up until they are about 12 months, so it is early days if they are only a few weeks old.

(obviously, some also change to green etc, as well as going brown)

I have three D.C. they were all born with vivid blue eyes. One is now blue, one green, one brown. (D.C. not eye).

Dd1 born with very dark brown eyes and stayed that way.

Dd2 born with blue eyes and lightened to bright blue.

Dd3 born with really dark blue eyes, lightened a bit and stayed blue for a few months then turned to a green/hazel.

Often get comments on all 3 having diff coloured eyes.

My Caucasian baby had black eyes when she was born, we couldn't see a diference between the iris and the pupil because they were so dark.

They went grey, then dark blue (like denim) then green, now they are hazel/brown ish. She's 2y5m.

DS’s eyes didn’t turn green until he was nearly 3 (they were blue when he was born). DD was born with grey eyes that turned brown when she was about 9 months.

Mine was born with blue. Changed to green almost overnight at around 14 months!

Mine are also green and they change different shade of green daily. Apparently green eyes do this

Based on my nurses training 40 years ago, most born grey although some dark browns from birth. Never seen a blue eyed newborn although several pale grey that probably became blue eyed children.

My DD was born with really dark eyes that almost looked black. She’s almost 4 now and they are a light brown/hazel colour.
DS was born with dark greens/blue eyes. He’s 2.5 now and they changed to more or less the same colour as DD’s, but a little more on the greenish side than brown

sorry, but as that goes against all the textbooks and against even anecdotes on the thread, I find it a little hard to believe!

Dd dark brown almost black eyes at birth, a slightly lighter brown now aged 18.

But my ex who supposedly has white British ancestry has very dark colouring (dark olive skin, dark eyes, black hair) and features that I've always felt strongly suggest African heritage somewhere along the line and dd very much takes after him.

Most disconcerting for people as dd is this tall, skinny, dark, exotic beauty and there I am short, fat, redhead, freckly & pale Celt! Grin

Genetics are odd!
