How long did you bleed for post partum?

I was told that after a few days it would reduce to something like a period. It’s now 8 days PP and I’m still bleeding just as heavily.

Just short of 6 weeks with all three of mine. Heavy for a couple of weeks but then slowed down a bit. Always heavier if I'd been more active. Definitely worth getting checked out if you're worried about it though.

6 weeks or so, first two were the worst though, it does get better!

Natural birth and bled for about two weeks. Was just like a normal / light period with no clots.

fucking forever

About 7 weeks, 2.5 of which were very heavy (though surprisingly not painful. Which seemed like a minor miracle at the time seeing as how pretty much everything else hurt like a bastard)

A long long time lol! They say a few days but no one I've ever spoken to who gave birth ever bled for just a few days so I've no idea where they've got that number from!
With my first it was a couple of months till it completely stopped!!
With my second it was quicker to stop, maybe a couple of weeks?

The really heavy bleeding stopped after 2 weeks with the first but I still bled like a period for over a month!
I did have stitches with my first so that might be why? I dont know...

But basically 'a few days' is not most womens experience I think you'll find! So I wouldn't worry!

Congratulations on your baby Flowers

First DC was about 6 weeks but I had retained product and an infection.

Second DC about 2 weeks. I had a huge pph and retained placenta and a stay on HDU.

Third DC about 24 hours! No idea why but it stopped and then had a period about 6 weeks later.

All vaginal delivery's.

6 weeks.... then i got my period and bled for another 6 weeks ! I bled quite a lot in that first year due to a hormone inbalance ( so the gp said)

2 weeks reasonably heavily then it started to ease. I remember thinking I'd got off lightly compared to what most books said.

Unless you feel unwell? Like fever or pain in abdomen... in which case go to maternity assessment unit to get checked (I think that's still where you go at 8days pp?) Because it might be retained placenta or something...

But if it's just bleeding at 8days it's probably normal, just ask your midwife/health visitor when you see her

Just shy of 5 weeks. It was very heavy for about 10 days then was just a pink stain on a pad unless I’d fed my dd or been more active then it would be bright red again and quite a bit more.

WeeBeasties · 26/03/2019 20:11

11 weeks! I went on the pill in an attempt to regulate my hormones and that sorted it out.

7 weeks, pretty heavy the whole way through until the end where it became more steady.

3 weeks but all 3 had no complications. Only had 2 stitches with 1 and none with the others. Gradually got less and stopped totally just after 3 weeks

A couple of weeks but it was light throughout, like a light to medium period

I did have a EMCS though and lost quite a lot of blood during that so I think that's why

About 10 days but it was pretty light after 3/4 - no clots or anything. It was waaaay less than I was expecting, but I had a vaginal birth and lost a lot of blood straight after so maybe the worst of it came out then. It did smell rank towards the end...I thought I had an infection but midwife said it was totally normal. Grim.

6 weeks, not much worse than my heavy periods really. Then at 8 weeks I got a period so much for breastfeeding
