Does anyone know the average gestation for c section delivery (uncomplicated, planned c section)

I had my son at 35 weeks
I know my obstetrician planned to deliver at 38 weeks

This time I'm wondering if the pregnancy remains simple with no complications do they typically deliver at 40 weeks?

I'm not seeing my consultant til end of February again and I feel bad to call my midwife just to ask this

Thank you

39 weeks normally. Depending on when they can fit you in. I had mine at 39+2

39 weeks for my singleton pregnancy. 38 for twins (but they had other ideas)

38-39, but you can request up to 40 weeks and discuss with your consultant.

They prefer 39 weeks onwards, I think because pre 39 weeks necessitates a steroid injection for the babies lungs, or something like that. I had mine at 39+1

For "straightforward" elective cases, it is 39 weeks, nearest date after the 39th week.
Complicated cases are a careful balance of weighing up the risks.

Ok fab thank you
I'm just trying to work out when my mom should be clearing her diary at work

Thanks for your help :-)

I hope this one doesn't do a 35 week arrival and a trip to SCBU !!

Booked mine today for 39 weeks, I asked for a date early as we have to plan around my other child who has special needs.
I don't think they will go earlier in the NHS unless there is a medical reason

Bang on 39 weeks for me. If they go with a date earlier they give steroids as a precaution to ensure baby's lungs have developed. They would rather go slightly later than earlier unless there is a medical reason, so bang on 39 was the earliest they would do.

Mine was bang on 38 weeks, although that was almost 9 years ago now!

Bang on 39 weeks is the aim bit we reasonably regularly have women have to have earlier ones having gone into spontaneous labour before. It's a whole two weeks of normal term pregnancy before your section date. Good for the babies though.

38+6 and no mention of steroids.

39 weeks here.

Just over 38 weeks, baby projected and was at lower centiles on weight, and no mention of steroids here either. I understand it's between 38 and 39 weeks but doctors prefer closer to 39 if possible.

41 for me as Consultant wanted to give me time to go into labour with DS2 first, but I didn’t!
