Silly question about carseat

Amazingly, my only worry about my impending labour is about what to do with my car seat.
My husband cannot drive and it will be taxi or lift to hospital when I go into labour.
So I will need to take my car seat in with me as may not get the same lift back.
Is there space in a delivery room for a car seat? Worried the midwives will be annoyed at it taking up floor space.
Can’t ask a friend/relative to bring it in as not close to anyone here and no clue who would be available to come and get us and take us home. I’d rather have it with me to get the taxi back at our convenience rather than phoning round etc, a hassle I’d do without.
Stupid worry I know! But has anyone done this?

There might not be room for one. Go in without one and then send dp home for it when it's time to go home.

I think most hospitals have space somewhere like on a windowsill etc so I would bring it or send hubby back for it.

I would say its unlikely there would be room. Its also a lot to cart about. When I had my daughter I was in 4 different rooms/wards and my husband had to keep moving all our bits and bobs ( I was induced so maybe being in so many different rooms isn't typical!).
I'd give the birthing suite/ward a ring and see if they have any options or ideas.
Sorry not very helpful, but I understand the worry, I over thought parking before going in to give birth!!

I wouldn't take it in. I'd send DP or another relative/friend home to get it when it was needed.

Thanks. I just told my husband and he isn’t overjoyed, he said, “but what if you get to go home that day? That’s a right faff!” I also enlightened him to the fact that if I go to the ward he prob won’t be able to stay overnight!
Well, hard luck he can’t drive!

Sorry, should have read your OP more carefully. I think I'd probably still leave it at home and get DP to go and get it when you're ready to go home.

Otherwise you have to cart it round with you when you get moved to the delivery suite from antenatal, and then to post natal. Bays in hospital wards aren't very big so it might get in the way.

The likelihood of you coming home that same day is slim imo most ppl stay overnight and if you have a csec then longer. He will want to go home and sleep if you are in for the night.

My DH can’t drive either. He’ll be getting a taxi back home to collect it and come back with it.

Yeah, it’s a pain, but it’s not the end of the world. As you say, it’s their fault for not being able to drive! 😂

You could take it if you really had to, they won’t tell you to leave it, you can also put the bigger bag sort of in it or on it.. there is space for bags out of the way somewhere, although most people I know have had to stay over night anyway. Basically either way I wouldn’t worry and do what works best for you

All hospitals are different but where I am it's unlikely you'd go home the same day and unlikely your partner could stay over anyway. I'd leave it to him to bring in when needed.
