Reduced foetal movement

Currently 41 + 2 and due to be induced next Tuesday. Have had three failed sweeps and haven't been feeling as much movement since then, but there really can't be much space left! Do you think it's worth going in today or tomorrow to bring induction forward?

My previous DCs were 40+3 and 41+3 so no stranger to being late but very wary of induction.

I would ring the unit and speak to them. As far as I'm aware, movement should stay the same and any change in movement could be a cause for concern. They may just ask you to go in for monitoring today.

Give them a call and they’ll have you in for monitoring but it’s also a sign baby is on the way! Good luck!! Ps take loads of books/ magazines and things to do for monitoring you’ll be waiting hours!

Y, y to PP. Ring your hospital now. Reduced movement should always be checked out. It is a myth that babies so quiet before labour.

Go straight to hospital to be checked. Do not wait. Kicks count charity is a good place for info on this if you haven't seen it already.

Baby is now moving a lot after cold water and marshmallows This has happened a few times over past week with then busy active days in between (usually coinciding with midwife checks with baby having normal heart rate and kicking the Doppler off!). So I think I can wait a bit longer?

I agree with other posters, overall it’s a reduction in movements and you should go in and get checked out.

It has been moving quite a lot since, as if to prove a point! If it's quiet overnight and I go in tomorrow morning is it likely they'll induce me on the spot? I've been told they'll go straight to breaking my waters for my planned induction.

Honestly i would go in. I had reduced movement in labour which ended in emergency section and thankfully a healthy baby. I had been noticing reduced movements before then which, like you, had gone away with cold water etc. In hindsight I absolutely should have just gone in a few days before induction.

If you don’t want to go in unless necessary, why not call the hospital? I had a few instances of reduced movements and sometimes was sent in but sometimes was told to have a cold drink, lie on my side and not worry if I felt movement that way. Worth asking them, explain you had a period of no movement but you’ve had regular movements since and see what they say

The reason I'm loathe to go in now I've felt movement is that our nearest family cover is 4 hours drive away, my neighbour will cover the emergency aspect but to call someone to come now would be quite tricky. I'll call the unit and see what they say, thank you!

I didn't... myself and my two other DCs started vomiting right after I put them to bed last night so I didnt want to go in... moving ok today but I'm still being sick. Really hope to feel better by Tuesday as there's no way I can get through induction on current energy levels

Just to add - reduced movement is NOT a sign baby is on the way, nor is the ‘they move less at the end’ thing true. It’s so dangerous when people give out bad advice.

Op hope you’re feeling better soon! Keep an eye on movements, but fingers crossed all goes well for you on Tuesday.

Back to only occasional movement overnight. I will have to call them today, hopefully I won't spread a bug.

I am sorry to be harsh but for heavens sake, go and get checked. Reduced movement is even more alarming when babies are at term or later. This is exactly the point where the placenta may be starting to expire under the strain of keeping up with an ever-larger baby. And the first sign of that is reduced movement. You have had repeated spells. I am sorry you are feeling unwell and have childcare problems but honestly, every episode of reduced movement at this stage should be investigated. It’s almost certainly fine but for those babies who are struggling, this is exactly how it manifests. Please go. And best wishes.
