Can't stop pooing after birth!

We are on day 6 now after vaginal delivery and I am opening my Bowels several times a day. Feel the urge almost every time I need to go to toilet and it feels sometimes like the same sensation as pushing her out! Totally freaked out! Asked midwife who said may be system clearing or after pregnancy. I can't find any stuff about this online - has anyone else had this?

Are you taking any new drugs? Maybe something else messing with your system?

The day after I gave birth I remember having to keep going back and forth to the toilet and passing small amounts of loose stool each time (sorry for TMI!). I told one of the midwives and they quarantined me in a side room in case I had a bug but I had no other symptoms and it stopped within a day or so. Still don't know what caused it. I assumed I'd be constipated after giving birth but apparently not always the case.

I remember googling whether breastfeeding was a laxative haha, didn’t find much out but it must have meant I was the same as you. Lots of odd things happened after my daughter was born which I generally figured were my body getting itself sorted out.

Your digestive system has been squished for months, it's no wonder it's gone a bit haywire with all the extra space again. It will go back to normal in a while.
