I have my c section date this week. I am abserloutly s*ing it this time! Have a DD who was a c section. I think its because i know whats coming this time and last time i had no idea really, although first was planned. I'm more concerened something goes wrong with already having a DD. I took my last aspirin yesterday and the midwife said that won't cause me to bleed to much but I've read you should stop them two weeks before. I also had a really bad experiance with after care on the ward after the c section so my questions really are...

  1. has anyone had a c section that close to coming of aspirin? (2 days)
  2. how long after your second c section did you get to go home from the hospital?
  3. how did you find your second c section?
    Thank you

I was in hospital for 30 odd hours for my 2nd, we were held up by a 7 hour wait for a postnatal bed and then I needed a full blood count because I was anemic in pregnancy and that took a few extra hours. I could have stayed longer but didn't want to because I wanted home to ds.

My second section was amazing. I had a terrible time with my first, it was an emcs after a long labour and failed forceps, all the alarms were going off, I hallucinated and then passed out. At my pre-op I couldn't even talk through what would happen, I was so stressed.

They let dh be there for the spinal, dropped the curtain when dd came out so we could watch, delayed cord clamping, midwife toweled her off next to me and then put her straight on my bare chest in only a hat where she stayed until we moved to recovery. The team were lovely, all female and really relaxed and chatty. Once she was out and on me, time just seemed to fly and it was over in no time at all.

Hope everything goes smoothly for yours.

I think I took aspirin (for high bp) until the day before my planned c-section. Didn't know you're meant to stop it sooner and no idea if it made any difference to blood loss.

Aspirin makes no difference to blood loss. I took it right up until 2 of my 3 sections.

I was discharged 24 hrs after my 2nd and 3rd sections. I stayed longer as my babies needed to stay longer and post natal had room for me. But I didn’t get any medical care.

My 2nd CS took longer (I had many adhesions which they took great care with) and was very stressful. This was because the anaesthetist was a bitch and my baby was poorly. The third was fine, and quick as not only was it done by a consultant, but the surgeon at the 2nd had done a really good job putting me back together apparently.

No idea about aspirin I'm afraid,

I was in for four nights after my first section and five after my second but both times were because of issues my babies had (feeding issues with DS, jaundice and weight loss with DTs.)

I found my second section far easier - it was elective, first was emergency. The whole experience was very calm and straightforward and I was up and about within 24 hours. Recovery was much faster and they did a much neater job of stitching me back up Smile

Thank you for your replies ladies. I was hoping the stay would be 2 nights top, 3 at a push. I stayed 3 the first time but was extremley stressed out by that point so i don't want a repeat off what went on last time x

Sorry ladies another question...did you shave down there before the c section? It doesn't say anything about it in my information leaflet. I think i did last time but not 100%

Current advice is NOT to shave or wax your pubic area prior to the surgery because there is increased risk of surgery. If you are feeling shy/ bushy then by all means trim gently, but nothing that could graze or stress the skin.

I was up and about walking (with catheter) hours after my section and found recovery very easy. Try not to worry!

sorry, that reads like gibberish- there is increased risk of INFECTION, not surgery (which obviously is a given!)
