Hi all. Does anyone have any recommendations for books, blogs where there are collections of positive births stories?
Hoping to give birth in 10weeks and feel like I’ve read every negative, distressing story posted on the web.. and i’d like to try and balance it out!
If anyone has any recommendations I would be grateful.

Have you heard of the UK TV channel 4 programme called " One born every minute"
This is a ground breaking real life drama of a hospital maternity unit.
It is inspiring, funny and emotional.
The staff, patients and their families are real people.
The website has episodes and follows up on the people after the child is born.
No book in my opinion can compete with this well made docu-drama

I have given birth 4 times op and none of my experiences were negative or distressing! One was much easier than the others. Yes they all hurt but its a baby coming out of you! You will be fine Flowers

Google the calm birth school. Has regular blogs by recent mums of their birth experience.

Don't watch One Born every minute, it's a highly edited show and won't give you any good insight into birthing. It can be enjoyable though

This site is good

Reading books like the positive birth movement and Ina May Gaskins books are great idea too.

People are often reluctant to talk personally about positive birth but try to ask people for positive experiences

Another is 'stand and deliver: and other great ways to give birth' (!!) Can't remember who it was written by but I really loved it. Contains references to Ina May Gaskins farm - fascinating stuff.

Have a look in to hypnobirthing. You don't have to practice it if it's not for you but definitely have a little read of it or watch some YouTube videos of women discussing their experience.

People just like to share their horror stories. Keep away from them as they'll just make you tense on the day which is not good! Having a baby is honestly such a magical moment and you will be fine!

Also Ina May Gaskins Guide to Childbirth - at least one third of the book contains positive, sometimes changes molecules birth stories. And the rest of the book is also useful and positive.

There is a podcast called The Birth Hour which is really good. All different kinds of births and the stories all have a positive slant, even if there are difficult parts of them.
