Tenderness around episiotomy - 5 weeks pp

5 weeks pp today an although my episiotomy appears to have visually healed. Flat slightly pink scar currently. It’s still particularly tender around it. Not necessarily the actual scar. More the surrounding skin as though it’s the muscle underneath that is tender. Is that normal at this stage?

Yes. 2 years later and mine is still tender some days. It's a mixture of the scar tissue not having any elasticity and the nerves regenerating. You can massage it to make the skin the scar is attached tooore elastic which helps.

At 5 weeks pp, perfectly normal. You'll read of people saying they had sex 12 days pp after having an episiotomy and all kinds of wild claims, but it takes a while to heal. Mine felt not-painful at about 12 weeks, normal about 6 months.
