Whoopsie, has sex 9 days post ELCS!

Had an elective C section 10 days ago and I had sex with my husband last night.

I hadn’t been into it at all for the last 2 months of pregnancy and with the bump gone, I couldn’t help myself as I’ve been missing the closeness.

I’m fully mobile and feel well and the scar has healed. The Lochia is now very very little.

The question is / have I damaged any underneath layers? It feels a littler tender this morning...

What is the medical advice in this scenario?

Eek!! Any advice from any early horndogs out there please let me know if it turns out okay in the end!!!

Hahaha. I haven't got much advice other than maybe stick to foreplay for the time being?!!

I haven't had a CS but had open lower-abdominal surgery and remember nearly fainting the first time we did it because I wasn't use to the exertion Blush

You will have internal bruising so that's prob why you're feeling tender. Sure it'll be fine - get some arnica tablets.

Can't advise on c sec but without sounding like your mum you know you are already potentially fertile don't you!

Yes! Seriously crap to get pregnant within same month of giving birth! Bloody hell!

I had sex 5 days after or 4 days after! I was fine 😂
But yes I was tender for the first few weeks

You won't be able to get pregnant 9 days after giving birth. If you use the pill they recommend going back on it 21 days after labour. It's probably ok as long as you arent putting too much strain on your scar. I would get some contraception sorted if I was you though

Must say I'm thrilled to hear that some people feel up to sex so soon after an ELCS- I'm booked in for one in a couple of weeks' time and bracing myself for a long slow recovery. Great to hear it's not always the case! DH and I haven't done the deed in ages (I got completely weirded out at our last attempt when I could feel both my husband and son moving around inside me) and he's been very understanding about it, but looked seriously crestfallen when I warned him it might be another couple of months post surgery!

I've actually been wondering about this. At what point is orgasm safe? The leaflet the hospital gives you mentions penetrative sex but not orgasm. It seems risky because it causes contractions and won't that rip internal stitches?!

Probably nothing will rip after 9 days although try to be careful!

The hospital told me that I could do it whenever I felt ready and there was no particular amount of time to wait but use protection

The reason you’re supposed to wait several weeks is that you have a big open wound where your placenta detached, no matter whether you had a vaginal delivery or c section. This means you’re at very high risk of infection. I also wouldn’t want to put too much pressure on stomach muscles and a uterus that have been cut through and restitched.

I would definitely wait at least three more weeks before you do it again (it’s meant to be 6!) and keep an eye out for any signs of infection (Pain, increased bleeding, discharge with an odour etc). I had an infection after my c section (not from sex, didn’t have any of that for months!), and it was really serious.

Hey mrsMacW I feel so well! The healing has been just amazing! Each day I feel better. My friend is 3 weeks out now and says she’s fully recovered.

I also had a really hard time with sex in late pregnancy and found it a bit distressing so that’s why this happened!

I’m not going to allow it again for a couple of more weeks!!

My friend gave me condoms for a baby shower present with a note! ‘Don’t get caught out’

I thought ‘yeh right’ at the time thinking I’d still feel like a fat nun.

But turns out that I do feel like it and my bump deflated rapidly allowing that closeness I had been missing.

But yes caution was taken on many fronts..
