What to wear in labour

Just making a list for my hospital bag! What is every one taking to wear in labour?

I know it doesn't really matter but I want to be comfy! Not planning birth pool or anything.

I bought a couple of cheap button up nightshirts in primark. Good for labour and then you can unbutton for skin to skin when baby arrives and don't feel too bad if they get really messy when you've not spent much on them.

I packed three oversized nighties but threw up all over myself several times and ended up in a hospital gown 🙁

I bought a new nighties and a few large tshirts. Ended up being carted in an ambulance, through A&E in a water and meconium soaked tatty dressing gown. Trust me you won’t guve a shit what you are wearing

Big cheap nighties and something a bit nicer (but not that nice!) and comfy for afterwards.
I’m happier in pjs afterwards

I've got a mens XL t-shirt. Although first time round I didn't end up changing out of the top I was wearing when I went into labour!

I've got cheap nightshirts from. Matalan and some. Leggings to waddle around in too.. And will take my slippers i got for Xmas.. So. Been worn not BN. But anything I wear will be going in bin after
And then some nice new pj's and slippers for when I get home

H&M long stretchy maternity vest. Can be easily pulled down to cover your ass if you get up and walk around. Bring lots of bottoms. My waters kept coming out in random gushes at different times and soaked 3 pairs !

Primark nighties packed both times but both times when the pain ramped up I insisted (quite emphatically) on being naked! You couldn’t have kept clothes on me.

Took 3 big stretchy night dresses with me from Primark. I wore 2 during labour and all 3 were quickly binned afterwards so as not to be reminded of my labour - it was a tough one!

Then I took 2 pairs of new really nice PJs for after and a lovely new big fluffy dressing gown (didn't need dressing gown as very hot on maternity ward). So I think maybe I would suggest taking a thin dressing gown actually.

Big tshirt the naked! Loose knee length pjs and a button up night afterwards. The clothes came off pretty quickly once I had to keep removing them! Good luck x

Haven't given birth yet but planning to bring a XXL gap body black tshirt - it's so soft and light, long enough to cover my bum even with bump, and has big scoop neck so can access boobs.

As a back up I have black la redoute maternity pjs that are like a tunic top (again long enough to cover bum) with nursing v neck and black legging type bottoms (those not for labour obviously). Then a navy la redoute button down nightie for afterwards if have to stay in. Perfectly prepared to completely strip off though!

I gave birth in the Middle East and I think Boy Scouts could have used my ankle-length polyester hospital gown as a tent.

I could not have given less of a shit to be honest but I'd recommend something baggy

Last time I wore the hospital button up nightie which made it really easy for the midwives to do checks and stuff so I'd recommend something like that rather than pyjamas. Ended up stripping it off entirely when it came to the pushing stage though, got too hot!

I wore a soft bra top and nothing else. I'm quite busty so I wanted some support. I had long button up nighties for after but to be honest I was pretty oblivious to what I was wearing for the most part. I had an epidural and it made getting the line in a lot easier, I just had to sit up and lean forward, and the midwives were able to do all their checks with ease. They gave me a blanket to keep me warm/decent but that vanished at the pushing stage too.

You may wish to have something to tie your hair back with loosely so that it doesn't get in the way.

Big old t shirt for the event. Button front PJs for afterwards. A million pairs of large soft knickers.

Bought primark nighties but didn't have the time or inclination to change. Some soft shorts for after are a good idea, those maternity wards are boiling but I wasn't quite comfortable walking around in just a nightie.
