Childbirth

The last 4 weeks...

So I'm just gone 36 weeks. With DC1 I was induced at 37 weeks due to concerns over an infection. This time around I am having an ELCS.

Over the past three/four days I've gone from feeling mostly fine, to feeling VERY pregnant. Every time I get up, the baby feels very very low and heavy. The pressure down below is intense. Feels like a big bowling ball is between my legs and the front of my actual pelvis feels like it might just split in two! (I appreciate it won't!) Last night I had stabbing pains in my fanny which were intense and painful - I never had these with my first. I've been having strong Braxton Hicks and some have been painful, but nothing regular yet.

I'm anxious because I am desperate to get my ELCS which is scheduled for the 28th. I am worried I will end up in labour before this and not get my section. Are these signs just normal things to be expected at 36.5 weeks, or could they be a sign that I might be early?

I'm 37+5 and i feel exactly the same as you, i cant remember feeling like this with my 1st DC. I'm due to have an ELCS the week beginning 18th (hospital can't give me a date till next Friday).

The hospital told me if i went into labour early i had to go straight in and they would do my section straight away. Why dont you speak to your midwife and ask them what would happen?

Good luck

I've felt like this for the last week or so (currently 37+3). Had some nasty nasty pains this morning which have made my muscles ache so so badly.
Watching with interest (also wondering how women can feel like this and still be at work! Ow!!!)

I've felt like this for weeks and no labour, just the very uncomfortable end to pregnancy I think

mum's mine would do the same, just want to make sure I get there in time!!

Babyorsanta I'm still working and it's not easy. But only got a few more days to go and I am starting to think, hmm I really should be finished by now Brew

weshould yeah my gut instinct is that it's just the tail end of pregnancy. Sigh! Every time I get up from sitting down it feels as if my pelvis might shatter and it takes me a good few steps to get steady on my feet and actually waddle anywhere!
