Experiences of childbirth when suffering from CFS

We are expecting our very much longed for rainbow baby in January- exciting and scary in equal measures!

However I suffer from CFS/ME and I’m also Type 2 diabetic so all being well I will be induced around 38 weeks. I have been thinking it might be better to plan for an Elective Caesarean ( consultant has said we can discuss it at next appointment) because I am worried that if I’m in labour for a long time I’ll be too shattered afterwards to look after my baby properly. I realise I’m going to be knackered anyway but just trying to minimise it a bit.

So I want to hear from other ME sufferers and how you found the birthing process.

I have ME and had twins by emergency section 14 months ago. I also have endometriosis for which I'm on high doses of morphine - reduced through the pregnancy as much as I could.

The recovery was no worse than the laparoscopies I've had, and my twins were in nicu so I was really focussed on them - to be honest I remember only struggling to roll over that night to be cleaned, being pushed in a wheelchair the next morning, went home the next day, struggled a bit getting in and out of bed for a few days and that was it really. Had some tenderness for a day when the dressing came off, other than that no issues at all. I suspect if I'd had a long labour I would have found that much more difficult physically.

I am leaning towards a C Section. I am so concerned that labour will completely wipe me out.

Too right - wouldn't change it but wouldn't really recommend two at a time when you have ME, they're little whirlwinds!
