Childbirth

If you were induced first time, did you have spontaneous labour next time?

Pretty much that really! If so, how far gone were you?

I was induced at 40+6 due to reduced movement and DS1 came at 40+9 by EMCS

Hoping for VBAC this time if I can go into labour naturally....

Yes and it was so much better experience.

I was 9 and 10 days when I was induced the first time and 9 and 3 or 4 I think the second time.

The second time I did what I could to go naturally.

Induced 13 days overdue with ds1 and had all interventions (syntocin ? drip etc) and a forceps delivery.
Had several sweeps after due date second time. Induced by waters being broken day 12 overdue with dd1. Laboured naturally. Only needed ventouse as she got stuck with a shoulder dystocia.
Went into labour naturally after second sweep on day 8 after EDD with dd2 and delivered naturally.
Went into labour naturally (no sweeps!) day 10 after EDD with ds2. He was a forceps delivery as he went back to back and was mahoosive.

I was induced at 36+2 with my first due to IUGR (issues with the placenta meaning the baby wasn't growing and there was something wrong with the blood flow). My son was 4lb11oz and the thought he would have a better chance outside the womb.

I was closely monitored in my second pregnancy in case it happened again, but was discharged from the consultant into midwife care towards the end of the pregnancy (around the 36 week mark I think). I went into labour naturally at a couple of days last my due date. My daughter was 7lb1oz - natural birth on gas and air - no bother. My first wasn't a caesarean, but I think VBAC is quite common if there's no other health issues with either you or the baby.

Oh, and in my second pregnancy I also moved house at 39 weeks, changed hospital, then didn't make it to hospital as the labour was so quick, so had an accidental home birth with paramedics! I wouldn't necessarily recommend any of that, but it goes to show how little intervention was required the second time.

Yep. Another accidental home birth here too!

Induced at 41+6 with DD1, natural birth.

Went into labour naturally at 38+3 with DD2, had emergency CS as I had a planned one booked in for 39 wks due to placenta previa.

Great to hear such positive stories - very reassuring!

Currently 39+4 and had first sweep today, got another booked for Monday. Booked in for ELCS in 2 weeks if he doesn’t come as I had such a bad experience being induced, I just really don’t want to go through that again.

Fingers crossed he will get a wriggle on over the next week or so!

Induced with my first at 40+12, took 48 hours and forceps to get him out.

Went into labour naturally with baby number 2, wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected. Wasn't sure I was even in labour! Baby born naturally 40 minutes after I arrived at the hospital.

Forgot to say, baby number two was 9 days late. I was convinced I'd be induced again. Don't give up hope!

Yes. No issues at all.

My second was an accidental home birth too.

DD1 induced at 42 weeks, DD2 was due to be induced at 41 weeks, but she came along naturally the day before. The contractions started gradually before becoming full on with DD2. With DD1, it was suddenly major contractions.

Fantastic - really is great to hear so many positive stories - making me feel a tad more confidant in being able to get this one our naturally!
