Anyone have any positive induction stories to stop me going out of my mind?

Absolutely shitting bricks

me! I was induced with DD1 at 38 weeks, whole thing took 12 hours from pessary to baby and only on gas and air, totally manageable. and even though it was a far cry from my planned homebirth the midwives were lovely and really tried to let me have as natural a birth as possible right to the delayed cord clamping.

You'll be fine! Flowers

DarkLikeVader oh really!? How lovely is that! I can only dream mine will be like that!!
My waters have already broke, they broke last night around 10pm and I’ve had the odd contraction. But nothing that’s set me off yet! I’m hoping because of this and the fact I was 2-3cm dilated last night I’ll just need the pessary like yourself!!

I was induced with dd1 at 40 weeks & just had waters broken (no pessary) for Dd2 but still had drip etc at 38 weeks.
I was 36 hours from pessary to having DD1 and 10 hours from having waters broken in delivery suite to having Dd2.
Both births were fine, would have been better if the wireless monitoring had been working!
Recommend you eat once you have an idea about when you are heading to delivery - all the talk of energy snacks in hospital bags, I wasn't allowed anything apart from water - sooooo hungry I felt sick.
Good luck!

Sounds like it should work well for you then, fingers crossed. If you can manage it - walk as much as you can, I walked laps around the hospital for about 5 hours after the pessary which I'm sure helped loads to get DD moving.

Muddlingalongalone my biggest fear is having the drip. Went to dreaded google didn’t I and read the horror stories. Why on earth I did that 😫

I’ve had to force a cheese baguette down myself this afternoon, I’m stupidly so nervous I can’t eat!!Was your birthing partner able to stay with you? Think that’s the majority of my nerves. Going through it on my own! Sad

Greentreeseverywhere oh how exciting!! I can imagine I’m gonna be analysing every single twinge and movement the second it’s been inserted. I’m such an over thinker Grin

Hope it happens soon for you. Keep us updated!!!

DarkLikeVader I’ve heard gravity is your best friend after a pessary, lol! I’ve already done my 10k steps according to my Fitbit trying to get it started itself. No such luck!!!

Was induced last year, for DD2. Pessary around midday, walked the halls all afternoon with just the odd twinge, real contractions started about 5:30pm, baby born at 7:05pm. Had paracetamol early on, and then a bit of gas and air. Good luck OP! Smile

I was dead set on a natural birth but ended up being induced and on a drip towards the end but I also had an epidural (wasn't planning to) and it was all fine. Can't believe I was so anti epidural as it was the best thing ever! Bliss!

I was induced with baby no.2 at 42 weeks, several failed sweeps, non favourable cervix so had to be induced. Only took one pessary at noon and contractions started within the hour. Baby arrived just before 8pm.

Good luck op, you will be fine.

I have my 2nd induction next Tuesday. Pretty nervous myself 😳

Well, maybe I will avoid the induction altogether. Contractions all of a sudden picked up in the hospital! Midwife has said it’s a race from now. We shall see!

My last two were both inductions but the first was especially quick..
pessary induction started at 1am (bizarre time but there you go) I was over contracting by 2pm It was taken out. I was 5 cm by 4.30am then went to 7cm by 5.30 and fully dilated by 6.15am. Son born fifteen minutes later almost in his waters in two colossal long pushes.

Daughter not much slower drip induction an hour longer but again rapid pushing and delivery stage.

Second DS due in five weeks I so want to go into labour without an induction 🙏🏻

Bit of a live thread update 😂 I’ve ended up being induced as I wasn’t contracting frequently enough. I’ve just had the first pessary for 6 hours, so hopefully I’ll start contracting from that or I’ll get the hormone drip!

I’ve never been more nervous and excited in my entire life!!!

Thank you for sharing your stories, I’m half the nervous wreck I was after reading them!!!

Good luck!

I was induced at 38 weeks and after a couple of pessary gels I had my waters broken. DD was born less than 2 hours later. Hope things kick off quickly for you.

I was induced for both of my kids and was lucky enough for it to work really quickly both times.

Good luck! Flowers
