Question about 2nd pregnancy and going into labour

Everything I've read says that with second or subsequent pregnancies that baby doesn't get engaged until labour starts so does that mean you can go into labour without baby being low down or feeling pressure down below etc. I'm just over 38 weeks and so done with being pregnant, obviously I want baby to come when he's finished cooking but he's still high up despite me having period type pains in my front and back on and off. DD didn't decide to vacate until 40+5 but don't know if I can cope with waiting that long again Sad

Yeah but you just can't count on anything until you are SURE you are in labour. So it's best not to torture yourself and focus on 40+10 as the end date. You will cope but you will cope better if you don't keep thinking it will be tomorrow.

It will be over soon!!

I'm 40+2 and fed-up too. My first engaged weeks before she arrived (at 41+1). This one is 3/5 engaged but nothing else is happening! I don't want to wait another day, let alone another week! I'll have to take KarateKitten's wise words on board, not least because the "any day now" thing is making me glum!

I hope everything goes well for you and your baby arrives soon Smile

I'd read that too but apparently I'm
2/5 at 39 weeks with 2nd pg with pressure down there and a 'dropped' bump so engaged but nothing happening. Have decided it doesn't matter and it'll happen when the baby is ready.
