Would you have your mum at your birth?

Just that really?
People find it weird that I don't want my mum there with me?!
Am I the only one who thinks it's abnormal to want your mum there?

Depends entirely on your relationship with her surely?

I did have my Mum at dc1's birth. She was great.

I had my mum there for DD1. She was really lovely but made me feel more edgy really, as I felt she was worrying on my behalf. DD2 I went into labour overnight (had home birth) and didn't call her. It's such a personal choice and 100% your call. Have you you want to have! (Or just MWs if you prefer!)

I'm pretty sure my mum was present at my birth 😄

No I wouldn't have. She is incredibly anxious and would be noticeably worried.

I would quite liked to have had her there, but circumstances meant that wasn't possible. She was the first person to see me and DS other than DH, though, and that was very special to me indeed

God no. I love my mum dearly but I might have killed her if she'd been there.

Absolutely no way! We're very close and get on great but I literally couldn't imagine anything worse.

No I didn't and wouldn't have wanted her there but my 2 dds, in their twenties, have both said they want me with them when they give birth. I'm not sure I want to be though, I'd is be so, so worried fir them. I would do it if they asked at the time though.

George beat me to it.

I didn't have my mum there with DS1. I'm a very anxious person and so is she and we tend to feed off eachother.

I'm due DS2 in the autumn, she won't be there then either as she will be looking afte DS1!

I would have both my mum and MIL if I were to ever have my mythical 3rd child. As well as DH.

That being said, I never felt I needed my mum at either of my births or labors and the fact we live 4000 miles from the U.K. it would have been difficult to time it.

I loved just DH and I being present but for the final one, sure why not!

I assume you meant 'would you have your mum there when you're giving birth?' Grin.

My dm accidentally ended up being there when I gave birth to dc1 that we asked her to be there when I had dc2 too. She was fab and knew just what to say and do to make the whole process go more smoothly. And she brought us nice things to eat after the birth too Smile.

I don't know anyone else who had their mum present though.

Absolutely not. I didn't need her present getting the babies in and certainly didn't need her there getting them out either Confused

Depends on circumstances. She was for the 1st as no father around. It was lovely for her (and me).

My mum was at my births and I was at dds birth when she had dgs. I know lots of people find it weird but its what we do in our family.

I had mum at DD1 with exoh, just ex at dd2 but would have liked it to be my mum.
Everyone's different, make sure you do what you want.

Nope. We see each other a few times a week, socialise together, holiday together.

No way.

Its just for me and dh.

Yes, I would love my mum there. When I'm pregnant, ideally I would like both DH and mum if they're both happy with that.

NanooCov · 24/06/2017 19:54

No. My mum is a worrier and would wind me up badly.
