Pain after Csection, how long does it last?

I had an emergency c section 10 days ago and for the past few days I've been quite sore. It's more like a stabbing/shooting pain. I'm also bleeding again. It got less and less and gradually stopped, but over the past few days it's been quite a bit again. I don't know if it's to do with the fact I'm a bit more active or if it's something else. Anyone have any experiences on this?

Definitely 2-3 weeks before I could stop taking painkillers. Around day 10 you're probably feeling more energetic so are possibly doing too much still!!

Take it easy, don't forget your meds and stay in bed -and perhaps give your GP or nurse a call for a quick checkup.

I was around 2 weeks when I started doing loads more and had a big bleed as a result and had to take myself back to bed for a few days. Give yourself another couple of weeks to heal. You've had major surgery of course it will be sore Flowers

I had an emergency C-section on the 22nd of April (almost 9 weeks ago!!) and I'm still getting the odd twinge of shooting pain along my scar if I overdo things.

Your bleeding can last up to 6 weeks. Mine finally stopped around that time but it got heavier and lighter at various times depending on if I did too much. The most important thing is to take it easy, and get as much help as you can. You're only 10 days post-section and unfortunately your body still has a lot of healing to do.

Thanks guys. It's easy to forget that I do need to slow down and take it a bit easier. I seem to forget what was involved in the c section

Doing too much can increase the pain as it can the bleeding.

I remember feeling 'better' after a week or so. So ended up doing things I shouldn't - hoovering, lifting heavy things etc and the pain got worse!

It will get better! 😀

Bleeding can last up to six weeks. With my first section I bled quite a lot for six weeks. With my second I only bled for a couple weeks.
