What to do? Anal pain (sorry tmi)

Gave birth 2 weeks ago now and had to have an episiotomy. Stitches have finally settled and feel normal.
On the other hand, my first vowel movement was huge(sorry) and didn't hurt one bit. BUT these past 2 maybe 3 days but bum is so sore. I constantly need to go to the toilet, so my bum is in so much pain. I'm thinking piles? I'm not sure.
Doctors don't have any appointments until may :( or could I call in tha morning and class as emergency?
I can't sit, lay down, go to the toilet. Just feel like one thing after another.
I've been using anusol and doesn't even seem to be cutting it And I had to take senna but that doesn't seem to do much other than give me a bellyache.
All I've been eating is fruit and veg and googled every possible thing rich in fibre and downing pint after pint of water?
Any advice on how to ease the pain or get rid of it. It's so painful when I'm breastfeeding my little man, but I'm determined not to give up!

Sorry you're suffering :(
I would certainly class your situation as an emergency and just ring up Drs tomorrow morning and insist you need to see someone. That's ridiculous their wait is until May.

Don't have any advice other than to ring and be pushy with them and demand to see the doctor. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

It's an emergency. Ask for an emergency appointment which must be tomorrow.

My thoughts exactly when they told me may!
Thank you both, I'll be ringing first thing in the morning as I can't go on much longer like this!

If maternity triage is open, I'd go there. You're still in the postnatel period and you sound like you're in an awful lot of pain and could do with someone taking a proper look.

If your first poo was huge you could have cut yourself a bit. I had this ( not from childbirth ) just generally. It really hurt for about a month. It would usually be ok until I'd been to the loo then the agony would start. I'd be in tears. I found germaloids helped. It's got some anisthetic in think. It hasn't happened again. I make sure I go at least once a day so it doesn't get too big or hard.

My mum said about going to the hospital, but it's travelling there. It's over 40 minutes away and I don't drive which is a pain.
Yeah, I've been for 2 bowel movements today, still feel like some's left inside, it just hurts to much and sitting on the toilet to long makes it worse (not that I can sit on there all day with a newborn lol)
My nans bought me germaloids suppositories but I feel I'd much rather see a doctor first

When is your community midwife due to visit you?

Good advice above; maybe try an alternative laxative as well - senna is a bowel stimulant and, as you've found out, often causes cramps. Lactulose or Movicol might be better for you.

My midwife discharged me on day 10 as everything was completely fine. It's just been these past couple of days I've had problems.

& oh, I thought senna was meant to soften poos, maybe I'll try the alternatives.
I've been told dulcolax is good, do you know?

Ah, well in that case you must get an emergency GP appointment tomorrow.

What OOH do you have nearby?

Have you had a look with a mirror? Anything to see?

It sounds like an anal fissure which is a small open cut, I had one and I have never had anything so painful in all my life, I almost fainted a couple of times from the pain

I was prescribed glyceryl trinitrate cream, which cleared it up within a week

In the meantime use the unscented moist toilet tissues. I also got some haemorrhoid pads, which were quite soothing

You would be much better calling maternity triage. They are way more experienced with this than Drs. You only gave birth 2 weeks ago. Hope you get some relief soon.

In the meantime until you can be seen could you get to a pharmacy? They may be able to give you some cream with local anaesthetic which was a lifesaver for my post-birth piles. The doctor referred me to have them banded when I eventually got in to be seen.

Sounds horrid Sad post natal extends to 28 days (at least where I am). I would go straight back to the midwives.

If it is piles then you should try to get something stronger than anusol. I had a telephone consultation with the duty doctor (female and sympathetic!) She was happy to prescribe proctosedyl ointment and suppositories over the phone. My DH collected prescription for me. I knew what they were and what I needed though. Definitely try for an emergency appt or speak to your midwife/postnatal team.

I would try some lactulose from the pharmacy, it's a stool softener so should help.

My doctors is ridiculous. Been trying to get through all morning and only managed to 10 minutes ago, to be told I need to ring before 12 for an emergency appointment or for a doctor to call me back (I was trying since 9!)
I spoke to a pharmacist and they said the germaloids suppositories should do the trick!
Tbh it doesn't hurt so much, just when I go for a poo (sorry) and a few hours after, so kind of dreading going again!
Will dulcolax work? My nans bought some?
I did have senna but that didn't do anything for me other than stomach cramps!

I have used suppositories before and they really do work.

As an aside I had problems after birth with going to toilet v painful etc. It may be you need physio as my problem was that I had a prolapse (bowel fell into my vagina basically) which meant it was harder to push out has had to go round a I-bend. Physio helped strengthen vagina muscles again so that bowel went back into place. I was advised to place feet on a step when going to the loo and lean forwards as that makes optimum position so you can go with minimal straining. Lactulose should also help soften and you can get this from pharmacy.

Hope it improves and you can see a dr op as whatever it is it needs sorting!

Oh was also advised to pour jug of water over area and pat dry with a towel after for first few weeks instead of using toilet paper as could irritate area/stitches so that may help too
